OK,so i bought a oil cooler kit.It comes withe the oil filter adapter and plenty of hose for $70. I was wonderin if it is a good idea to run the oil line from the adapter to the turbo and then to the cooler and then back to the return fitting on the adapter.or is it better to have the cooler between the turbo and the adapter plate?or should I forget about the whole thing and just drill my oil pan for the oil line kit that came with the turbo kit?

thats what I thought but maybe I thought that with the oil comming out of the turbo by gravity that the oil would get backed up inside the turbo if I had the cooler right after the turbo.I thought the oil needed to drop straight down out the bottom of the turbo? If I ran the cooler after, the oil line comming out the bottom of the turbo would be at a 4 oclock position, will that work? any opinions?

Your intuition was right. I would not put the oil cooler in the turbocharger's oil return path. However, I wouldn't put it in the feed line either. Use the sandwich adapter for the oil cooler and run conventional feed and return lines (i.e. from the oil pressure sending unit and to the oil pan) for the turbocharger.

The oil cooler will flow far more oil than the turbocharger requires. If you were to put it before the turbocharger, the turbocharger would serve as a bottleneck and only a small amount of rather warm oil will return to the oil pan. Overall, the oil in the system won't be any cooler. If you put the oil cooler after the turbocharger, all of it's twists and bends will cause the oil to remain in the turbocharger and cause bearing damage.

what if I scapped the oil cooler and just use the adapter just for the turbo?any suggestions.

You could feasibly do that, but I still wouldn't use the adapter for the return line. You want the return line to be as short and straight as possible.

is it ok to t-off the sending unit fitting because I also have a oil pressure gauge that I'm hooking up.thats why I rather use the adapter plate for the turbo.

I just didnt feel like welding into my oil pan,but I will if I have to.the bung that came with the kit is aluminum.do you know any sites were I can get a good one?and thanx for the help

Yeah, that's fine. Plenty of people, including myself, add a T-fitting there.

Summit Racing caries all sorts of fittings. I'm sure they have steel ones for welding to the oil pan. You can also try an aluminum bulkhead fittings, which does not require any welding to install. It must be installed on a perfectly flat part of the pan, though. I had one, but eventually moved to a weld fitting.
