Hi, very new to the forums, i have exhausted every dang resource i have, and have not been able to come up with a good solution. my problem is, i have a star turbo setup, with a turbonetics turbo also. my problem is that the star setup is leaking oil badly, as you can see in the pictures. what i want to do is throw away or maybe give away the star turbo and manifold, and keep the turbonetics turbo. what would i need to purchase in order to use just the turbonetics turbo?

Where exactly are you leaking oil from...feed line, return line, return fitting/flange, chra, etc??? What does badly mean, does it just leak or drip out even at idle...mine does

Why would you want to get rid the manifold if the turbo is leaking?

The Turbonetics turbo should bolt right up to the Star manifold, although downpipe and IC piping might need to be modified a little.

If you do give away that manifold, let me know first. :D

Umm how bout no you sneaky biatch, I think we all know who NEEDS a manifold !!!

you can see where the star manifold bolts to the star turbo, the oil is leaking around where it bolts together, it is leaking really bad, when the car is running, white smoke pours out of the exhaust, i wanted to know what i would need to do, what parts and such i would need to replace to get rid of the star turbo and be able to just use the turbonetics turbo. here is another picture of the setup, it will only let me upload 1 picture at a time. ill upload all pictures to ftp site, so you can see all of them and where the oil is leaking.

the site to view the pictures is:

Is your return line kinked possibly?

no, the return line is not kinked, what i want to know is, what is the cheapest simplest way to fix this issue, get rid of the star manifold and turbo and keep the turbonetics turbo? and if i do that what parts will i need.

umm....WHY do you think you have to replace the manifold

Just bolt on that turbonetics, and you should be good to go :thumb:

is the star turbo rebuildable? if so where could i send it, if it is rebuildable than i wont need to replace anything, i was told it was not rebuildable. that is the whole reason i was asking about the turbonetics replacement. also, you guys have been a great help, thanks for the replies and help!

Take off your downpipe and takes pics of the turbine side, then also take off your intake and take pics of the compressor side. After that, go ahead and remove the turbo from the manifold just to make sure you're not actually burning oil etc before the turbo itself. Post the pics so we can further help diagnose your problem.

i have been told 2 different things, 1. the star turbo cannot be rebuilt, and 2. the star turbo can be rebuilt. if it can be rebuilt, where would you reccommend i send it to, i am located in ohio, columbus area. any help would be appreciated.

You don't even know for sure if the turbo is bad...do what I said and take all those pics, so that we can further investigate into this little oil leak of yours.

You should be able to rebuild that turbo. If it is not a kinked oil return/feed line then the seals might be bad. I myself would just buy a new turbo. Because I love new parts and because you dont have to do anything but install it and break it in. Less chance of something else going wrong. And besides it seems when I fix shit something else likes to go wrong. Mods please forgive my spelling just this once..single father....running on 4 hours of sleep here...

Your spelling will never be forgiven muah ah ah hah ahaha... I suck :(

Anywho, take those pics!!!

im trying to make time to take all that stuff off, i work at an auto shop, so by the end of my 10 hr day, i dont wanna look at a car, even mine LOL, ill try to get it done as soon as i can, thanks for your help guys!
