Turbo Manifold

And you told me to search before...

The manifold has been installed on a few members cars of this site as far as I know. Xmasta, Randomrage and VelocitàPaola.

Many people seem to atleast get their turbo/manifold setup from thestreetsource. I believe the person most talk to is Mike Hart?..Anyways, I've heard nothing but good things about him and his products. I actually just recommended his set up to a guy I know.

I personally think the star manifold looks like crap, but that just my opinion.

VERY TRUE, but it gets the job done. I would go w/ this one if there was a bigger performance difference, but I am not about looks...don't get me wrong, I like my stuff to look good, but not at the hands of loosing performance.

you don't lose performance with this manifold, and if you didn't notice the flanges are also offset differently :toobad:

I did the test fit for his first eclipse 420a manifold...and guess what, I'm still using it :rocks:

How much of difference are there between the 2 flanges and their spacing...if you know? B/c it's not bad for the price and possibly the performance. I might have to adjust things here and there, but if the spacing isn't that bad then it might be worth it, you think?

It's a great manifold. I was so weary about which manifold to buy when I was first turboing my car. I obviously saw the majority of those on eBay, all of which looked like they were welded together rather shoddily.

I agree with everyone about the "function over form" ideology; however welding is perhaps the one case where the looks can tell you alot. I just didn't trust the welds on all of those other manifolds. Not to mention, they were almost all painted, so I had no idea what kind of metal was used.

The Street Source's manifold looked like a good decision all around. The metal was top choice, the welds were great, and the pipe diameter even looked larger than the others. I contacted Mike and we set up my manifold; which is another great feature - I was able to completely customize my manifold, right down to the type of turbo flange and it's angle.

I had a few complications when it actually came to receiving it (the welder had family issues...), but it was worth the wait. I can't ever imagine needing an upgrade from this manifold. It can flows plenty of exhaust and is just made with an amazing degree of quality.

As mentioned before, Mike also stands by his product 100%; so if this should ever crack or develop a leak, I feel safe knowing I can have it repaired or replaced.

So this would be something to definitely "upgrade" to from the star manifold then? I also like the price. :sneaky:
I would not change from the star if i allready had one. IMO a log style mani is hard to f-up. The star seems to be made strong enough. No since in replacing it with another log style unless something is wrong with yours. Now if you want a new mani get one of those equal lenght tublar jobs. SEXY!!!!!!

Can I get installed photos of this manifold with the turbo installed? I'm thinking of that kit that comes with the downpipe... But from the looks of it, the turbo is setup to be reversed... and I'd like the turbo to be setup just like the 4G63's. So the O2 housing is on the driver side, and the intake is on the passenger side. Just so I can setup the FMIC The way I want.

Some people dont really care for looks, as long as it works,... I perfer both.

umm yeah...have you looked under the hood of your car lately

Our engine is completely flipped from the 4g63's for starters. Just try to imagine having the turbo flipped the other way for a little bit....how exactly are you gonna make a downpipe that manages not to hit the crossmember? Do you see the power steering/ac (if applicable) that would be in the way right to the left of the turbo? How exactly does the compressor outlet moving less than a foot in difference from left to right adversely affect the routing of your fmic piping? Have you searched at all...I have pics of my turbo setup in bunches of threads, I can't post them anymore unless I start deleting them from the other posts they are in.

sshhhh, I was being lazy ;)

That being the case I need to give him a yell.

I just finally got my beast fired up saturday to find massive exhaust leaks at the header flange and the turbo flange. It ran for all of 2 minutes before I couldnt take it anymore and I tore it apart to check my gaskets. For giggles, I put a straight edge on the flanges. WAY OFF, the turbo flange has a 30 thousandths dip right in the middle and both sides of the header flange are about 60 thousandths off from the center two ports. Its a shame because the manifold is downright Sexy. I slept with it for two months before I could bring myself to put it on the car.

I was adamant that he make it 100% stainless for me, apparently off the shelf only the runners are stainless so I threw down the extra $$ for the stainless flanges. I hope I didnt screw myself there.
He has been great about getting me anything I needed througout the project so hopefully he can plane it for me or something.

I ordered my manifold from thestreetsource last thursday 3/2/2006, I just received the manifold today 3/9/2006 just about a 1 week turnaround time, which was awesome. The manifold looks very nice, the welds are very clean. I will take some pics of it tonight when I get home. I also have to paint it with 1200 degree heat temp before I install it, hopefully the paint will hold up. I should be installing it tomorow, I'll take pics after the install as well.

I've found high temp paint usually lasts almost to the end of the block. Just out of curiosity put a straight edge on the header flange and see if its flat.
