Ok, i am not sure if this is the correct place to post this... But here goes...
Ok, I have a 2nd gen eclipse non turbo. i have swapped the oem 420a gauge cluster for the oem 4g63 gauge cluster. Simple enough to follow so far? Good.
Most of the gauges work and run as they are supposed to.
RPM, Kmh/MPH, water/coolant, fuel... they all work.
the Boost gauge does not work but thats obviously because i have no boost (yet).
Now onto the real question...
the Oem oil pressure gauge (main reason i picked the cluster up)...
i already have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge that works and is installed.
but i can't figure out how to get the oem op gauge to work.
i already have a aftermarket oil pressure sending unit. i have wired the oem gauge to the aftermarket sending unit, but now the aftermarket oil pressure sender reads way high and the oem gauge does nothing. i know the gauge itself works because when touched to a ground it goes way high.
could there be a ground connection that's not right?
i am thinking it is a ground because since both wires for the gauges are connected to the same sending unit wouldn't that mean they are bridged? That could explain why the aftermarket gauge reads high and the oem gauge reads nothing (i think. ...it makes enough sense to me at least) so in that theory i should just check the oem ground and maybe double ground it and like relieve strain on the aftermarket gauge. of course this is all just theory and i really don't know. Maybe i should just run two sending units? could that help? or would it still do the same?
i need a wiring genius
.
thoughts? suggestions?
i would love to have both gauges functional if at all possible.
