Alright im completely stock right now and i was looking towards throwing an 18g on my car and was wondering what i should do with my fuel system and i guess there is a conversion kit that is necessary...??

im new to turbos so i dont know too much about it, but im trying

thanks

I agree with GSXSixteenG, but with every turbo upgrade you need to know how much boost you want to run, you going to need more then just a fuel upgrade. Need to upgrade ## BOV cause ## stock will not handle that, don't cheap out and buy an ebay one. Plus if you want to run double then stock PSI then you going to need an exhaust upgrade to a 3" all the way that's what i have on my Supra. If you want bigger turbo you going to spend more money on other smaller upgrades. Make sure you tune your car right. Good Luck

i would say a boost guage, boost controller, wide band o2 / logger, decent plugs and wires, exhaust and probably a FMIC would be in order before you look intogetting a bigger turbo and the fuel system.

while all that stuff isnt needed, it will help keep your engine safe as well as getting the most out of the turbo you buy

Take a look at the upgrade path that is linked on the front page and follow that. Its goin to take more money and parts to upgrade the turbo setup then you might have expected. I would personally start modding your car and once u have it running good and have all the supporting mods then go ahead with the turbo upgrade.

thanks alot. ive only been a member on here for a little bit but you guys teach me mad stuff.

so for now it looks like ill be getting:

-Apexi N1 exhaust or i might just get a 3" straight pipe.
-I still have to do my 6 bolt swap, so im thinking that im gonna get my 6bolt and do all the modded work to it before i put it into the car.
-Headers..??(i was told by many that headers should only be done after other mods, for they dont do that much for dsms...true?)

i have some nice BFGs, 2 1/2 inch lowering kit with nice springs so for now my suspension is nice

would you need fuel upgrades if you are planning on running stock-ish boost for a while? (~15 psi)

That depends on the turbo that you are slapping on your car and what size stock injectors that you have. Going from a stock auto setup to a EIII16g would need a fuel injector size upgrade and fp rewire. Anything larger then a 16g I'd say go with a fuel system upgrade along with supporting mods and tuning devices. Just search around for write ups. Alot of people have answered these types of questions already. Happy boosting!

Ill be honest. Yes get a walbaro 255 and hotwire kit. Your going to need it soon enough. All cars are different but I seem to hit fuel on my stealth and laser around 14lbs. Others may have been able to run higher but it all depends on if YOUR CAR IS 100% HEALTHY. Mine wasnt, I replaced alot of things sir and it aint cheap.

I have a stealth rt tt and I took the stock 9b's and ran them at 16lbs. W/ a set of street dominators which are equivalent to maybe an 18g maybe and supporting mods. I definately could tell I had a decent gain but leaving it at stock boost or where its at now, HA !! You wont do it. Plus I bet you'll hit fuel cut at the same boost. Dsm's break ...sometimes alot. So do it right the first time, no short cuts anywhere. I have a 92 laser running 18lbs w/ stock turbo and clutch, 3' exhuast, down pipe, and test pipe, proper guages and logging software. I take car of my car and run solid numbers at the track, no ups and downs and all over the place. I know if I launch just right, bog or just fall flat on my face what the cars going to run. But my brother takes short cuts here and everywhere and unlike me, breaks something, blows something, or just screws his car over every year and his car runs 28lbs on a massive turbo, fmic, large injectors, tunning software, acto2900 yada yada yada runnin everywhere from 11.3 - 12.7.

My point is, ya can put all the crap on it you want w/ out supporting mods, but dont blame anyone but yourself when you put a big turbo on it and blow it up or your pissed b/c some slow car raped you. So start slow learn about your car and remeber all the big things yeah make a difference but its al the little none power adders that make those big things go vroom.

sorry to bring thus thread back but my answer to getting a 18g would be...my car maxed out n a 16g and I was given a 18 for 200 bucks...it was rebuilt into a fp18g and she pulls up high with cames where my 16g never did aswell. All cars are different sir.
