i'm just gonna start off by saying i havent searched the forums about this, so this may be a duplicate post.

alright so i baught a 96 eclipse gs off of a guy with a rebuilt 420a in it, bored out 30 over stock, needed a clutch and header. it was a good buy until i ripped the motor apart and found out the moron i baught it from left the motor outside in the rain... with nothing blocking the spark plug holes... you can see where its going from here.

i cleaned up the cylinder walls and the block is salvagable but the pistons are scored to hell so thats $500 right there for new pistons.

now to my question. if i were to turbo my eclipse what would i need besides the full jdm turbo kit (manifold, injectors, piping, intercooler, etc.) and low compression pistons?

any info would be helpful

I'm just gonna start off by saying maybe you should try searching? Then i'm going to tell you that JDM=gayness.

Ok, I will be nice and post my mostly done parts list. Prices are only what I have found and are just to help me get an idea of build pricing. I usually add money in there so the price is high and when I finish and it is cheaper than my file says it will be I am happy. These are the basic parts that you need for a COMPLETE forged motor and a pretty deadly turbo set-up, but what parts you choose is up to you I just listed what I was using because I already had it in a list.

For future refrence JDM is not something that really applies to our cars. Also search because there are already answers to this question on this board. All i can say is be prepared to spend money. This is an expensive hobby.

*I hope you appreciate the time it took to do this*

Wow!OMG That's a lot of money right there going to a $6,000 car! At least your doing it right though by building it up. Shame when/if you go to sell it you will never get that money back for what you put into it.

Heh, well I added probably about $2,000 into there that is just a buffer for me. On top of this is the $2,000 in body work and respray that is getting done. Also I will probably pic up a few used goods because not everything needs to be brand new. In the end it should be a fun little car to drive around to work and such. I love this hobby so I don't mind spending money on it. Not to mention most of the set-up will be transferrable to my next car so I am not too worried about losing on money. (Turbo, MS, intercooler, wastegate, gauges, BOV, Fuel set-up, intercooler piping and couplers, possibly manifold if I weld a different flange on., etc..)

99redgs- thank you, i knew there'd be alteast one person who wasnt a dick to answer my question and i do appreciate how much time you put into that list, that would turn out to be a sick build.

this is going to be the 3rd car ive built, so im right there with you when it comes to spending a lot of money. ive never done any work with turbos though so im clueless when it comes to turbo builds.

good luck to the both of us

DSM's aren't exactly JDM. Especially not the ones with the Chrysler motor. So your dreams of getting a JDM turbo kit for it are merely that: dreams. 99RedGS's parts/labor list is probably pretty close to as complete a list as you can get. And before you ask about converting the 420a to a 4g63, I HIGHLY suggest you search the forums. :)

Good luck with your build.

Just remember you can build a turbo set up for far less than what I have posted there. You don't really need to rebuild the head if it is in good condition. It has been proven to 500hp. You don't need LSD, but it is pretty nice to have in a fwd. You also don't need to buy $250 a piece gauges either.

So just take a look at the parts list, and decide which brand suits you.
