Alright... as much imput as you guys can put on this would be nice

Alright as you guys can see in my vehicle profile i have all the supporting mods done for my 16g turbo....

I have a couple buddy's of mine that tune there 1g's with the Knock count from there dataloggers... I know that i cant do this with my 2g because i am running OBD-II, so here is what im asking

Is there really anyway to * tune* my car for 18 psi without having a wideband to show me my true A/F ratio...

I have heard of making a 2g knockbox, but i dont know how well this will work....

I have also noticed that there are few people who have widebands in there profile so how are you all tuning???

Just a couple of the questions i have... ANY help that you guys could give me would be great....
Thanks
Andrew

look for timing advance across the rpm range. Say ur timing goes from 10 to 11 to 12 and then all of a sudden back to 10 then u r knocking. U want it to advance til redline. U can also look at the long term fuel trim. More than 0 = the ecu is adding fuel so u r running lean. Less than 0 = the ecu is subtracting fuel so lean it out a bit.

tuning with an safc and logger will be tough, if youre taking out alot of fuel with the safc, your going to get the more aggressive timing maps because the ecu is seeing less airflow (the motor isnt). so its not really going to be tough its just youre going to be knocking and probably still getting 18-19 deg advance at redline. look for any dips in the timing. just try and make a steady timing curve with no dips and like i said 18-19 deg advance at redline total. also depending on what turbo your running and how much psi, you will be knocking.

now that i can see knock, i now realize that before i was knocking also but still getting the aggressive timing maps cause i was pulling out so much on the safc (-14 on the lows, up to -38 on the highs) so not only was i knocking before but i was still managing to get the 18-19 deg advance because of lying to the ecu so much with the safc. now i run about 15-16 deg advance by redline at 22 psi and i sometimes get away with a couple counts of knock, others i will get about 5-6 counts. i must say it pulls very hard. all in all good luck with your tuning :thumb:

A logger is really all you need, you don't NEED a wideband to tune it's just really helpful. 1000's of people have tuned there cars without a wideband, heck my friend went 12.1 on an 18g and pump gas without even having a Logger.

Just get your fuel trims good and then just watch your O2's and timing, there's not really that much to it.

how can i see what my fuel trims are, and my timing... i am running an safc....

I have a timing advance of 30-33 degrees at WOT. My O2's cycle around .88-.94volts. Is the advancing normal? My fuel trims never exceed +4 or +5 and shoot to 0 at WOT. Any ideas?
