alright i am going to get a used 4g63 tubular t3/t4 manifold, remove the 4g63 exhaust flange and weld a 420a flange in its place. before i do this i wanna know what others think of the idea, and if anyone has ever tried this or thought about trying this.

From M-Town huh? I was just over there yesterday..

I wouldn't reccommend you doing it. It's not worth the oney, time, or tools. You wouldn't want to mess up that kind of item for turbocharging. Buy a tubular manifold or log style somewhere for under $200. That way you know it was made for our cars and fits fine.

BTW, you may not even be able to fit that thing under the hood with your turbo put on. I know there are fitment issues with some downpipes already, and mounting your turbo at an awkward angle set by a completely different motor would not be the best idea..

Good luck tho. :thumb:

i have already thought about the fitment issues ie. starter, radiator hose, fans etc. i would definatly try to get one that would fit without being too much of a hassle. as for the runners..... well i guess i need to get or see a template of both the 4g63 and the 420a flanges to make sure the holes line up. i just really want a QUALITY tubular manifold even if i have to custom make it. I just figured it would save me some money getting a used one.

I have no idea why you think you need a tubular manifold

or just buy the bends and the flange and custom make the entire manifold if you are going to fab anything.

Dont get me wrong, i think a tubular manifold would be a rare 420a turbo project but not worth the money and complications.

hahn highflow manifold although a little pricey new, is quite large and has alot of flow potential. looks better than 95% of manifolds out there for the 420a and is super sturdy your not going to break it. You can get one used off 2gnt for 200 bucks shipped and you will not ever need another manifold assuming you always use the t3 flange.

i think im gonna go with the log style manifold. the more i look at the engine and the more i think about how much work and time it will be to go about fabricating a tubular manifold that fits, not to mention issues like the strength of the manifold, the more i think a solid cast log manifold just makes more sense. thanks for everyones comments!

GREAT CHOICE!

I vote hahn racecraft, its just one high quality piece.

good luck:dsm:

If you want a more stylish manifold, which from the looks of it, you do, I vote thestreetsource.net. The manifolds they put out are beautiful and the customer service is top notch!

no doubt there customer service is top notch! but when it come to overall style and performance hahn is just sexy take a look for yourself.

This is just opinion vs. opinion. I think the SS is sexier, you think the hahn is sexier...We'll leave it up to the original poster. We've done our part in swaying him from his original idea to the more logical one. :thumb:
