I dont know were to put this post but I think this should be a ok place.
Aso I'm stuck in new jersey with my 2 kids with car and need to get this fixed so I can get home with them so please some input on what I can try PLEASE

But here goes today I decided to clean my motor because it started to get a little dirty. so I sprayed the motor down with water and greaser after I did that I tried to start my car up and all I got was it starting up and shutting off so i gave it some gas and it stared up rev for a little then i let off the throttle car was running for 2mins then it just shut off so I tried to stared it again and all I get now is it starting up and shutting off. Now I have a trouble code p0100 air flow malfunction

I'm running a GM maf with link
I checked to make sure there was no water in pipe and in the wire harness that I got from ecmlink and made sure there was no water on the chip board of the ecmlink wire harness and I didnt see any. But what I noticed was when I'm logging my Maf Hz is around 300Hz when it should be around 600Hz at idle.

Has anyone did this before if so what did you find being the problem? Or can someone give me a idlea on what to try?

I'm going to say the air filter got soaked/wet and the GM airflow sensor is temporarily inaccurate due to the moisture in the air it's reading. They are a sensitive airflow sensor.

Take the MAF out and inspect very closely to see if any water got inside the black plastic housing for the circuitry. Then take some electrical cleaner and hose the actual sensor off inside the honeycomb. Hard to see, I believe about 2 or 3 of them, they look like small resistors or fireants if that helps. :D

I looked at it and there was no water in side and out and there was none inside the pipes

I still stand to try just hosing it down with electrical cleaner.

Then get yourself a blowgun and blast the back of any suspicious connectors in the bay, get rid of all moisture.

See what happens with no air filter? Check for any disconnected hoses leading to intake manifold you might have bumped. Dirty battery terminals, grounds etc (yes the car starts but check anyway, it's possible)

Have you posted on the link forums yet?

Sorry, phone is broken so I can only check my email at home after work, hopefully someone will pop in here with more info. You might want to post a log also.

Also try unhooking the battery cable for a minute+ (to clear the code). Assuming the settings will be saved on link, I can't remember if it will.

just want to give you a update. The next day i was going to try what you sugusted and then put a differnt GM maf and try another ecmlink cable that i had but when I went out to the car I said to my self let me try to start the car up and see if it fixed it self LOL. so I started the car up and guest what it ran like it was supposed so I'm guessing one of the wires were wet and from sitting over night it dried out. But I want to thank you so much for chiming in and trying to help me out I was able to get me the kids and my baby home. Heres to you being you were the only one even though the was a lot of views:thumb::thumb::applause:

No problem, glad you guys are safe. Yeah, weird things can happen after a minor washing, I have this very strong blow gun (Google: Typhoon blow gun) and use it before as well as immediatly after washing. It also shows you what you missed since it dries off everything in almost no time.
