So i got my new transmission from jacks a few years back put less than 5,000 miles on it due to a few reasons, also has same mileage comp clutch flywheel setup.

Upon decel, there's a metal on metal grinding noise.

More the load on the engine the louder and more agressive the sound is.

Only happens between a certain range of RPMS with a load it ONLY WHEN I LEFT OFF THE GAS it seems like

but ive heard it just coasting 25mph on the gas on a residential road,

when shifted into higher gears with less load on the engine it wont make a sound.

Heres a clip

Many people have had this problem. It seems to come with clutch/flywheel swaps and/or tranny rebuilds (I have a shep tranny and mine does the EXACT same thing). I really dont think there is a known cure at the moment.

There is a bunch of threads about this, take a look. Your not the only one. :)

How common is this?

Do happen to know the most likely causes?

So im guessing you can hear this outside the car other than the cabin also?

That I am not too sure about. I dont think it is as loud outside, (considering we feel the vibrations also).

I just push the clutch in or put it in neutral when I decel from high RPM's, unless i'm doing autocross or something. :p

Simular to my problem my tranny make a grinding rattle sound on cold start when clutch it out I push clutch in it goes away and after cars warms up it is not as bad but still noticeable let me no what u guys think thanks
