So a follow up on my post:
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=157092
I took it to a local transmission shop and the guy told me that it was leaking oil from between the engine and the tranny. He also dropped the oil pan and showed me a couple of lose valve-body bolts. One of them was out all the way and was stuck to the magnets.
The magnets also had pieces of gunk on them but no metal chips or anything. So my question is: how much gunk is considered bad?
My last transmission oil change was about 2.5 - 3 years (or 30K) miles ago when I did the shift kit.
The guy at the shop told me that I need to get it rebuilt $595 just to drop it, dis-assemble/assemble it, and put it back in. Parts and bench labor is extra.
The tranny was probably run on low ATF but when I added some, it shifted fine and pulled strong.
Anyone with any suggestions? I don't have the money to get it rebuilt right now.
