I have posted a couple of threads on here in regards to my abnormally slow spool up time on my evoIII turbo. I was hitting full boost (stock) at around 4500 rpms. I put on a full exhaust and that dropped to about 4000 or 4100. I was having problems with my datalogger cable so I was unable to use it. I finally got my first log done and I see something that seems very wierd. I logged TPS and all the way across the log it shows my TPS at no more then 55 %. I am however flooring the throttle. I have also posted about how slow the car took off. Do you think that this has something if not all to do with my TPS. Would I get full boost later if I were to not floor the accelerator? Im just trying to figure out if this is my problem. Or maybe I still have a boost leak. I did a boost leak test and cant seem to hear any leaks. I really hope that this is my problem. Any comments, thoughts would be appreciated. :thumb:
 
You should graph the TPS signal (specifically the voltage) on your logger. You'll want to look at two things in particular. First with the engine off, ignition full on position check your TPS % and voltage. After writing down that information open the throttle by hand and let it slam shut. Record the same numbers. Now open the throttle and let it close very slowly until it rests. Check to make sure the numbers at rest are the same from when you opened and closed it quickly vs slowly. If there's a difference you might have a weak spring inside the TPS sensor itself.

The next thing you will want to do is graph the voltage and percentage on a very slow open and close actuation of the throttle body. What you're looking for is a hick-up, dead-spot or abnormal change in the signal. If you're graphing your signal it should be a nice steady incline and decline. Sometimes the TPS will go bad and have deadspots in the sweep.

I would check those things and report back.

get in your car and rev it by flooring it, then go and pull the throttle cable all the way and see if it seems louder. if it does, that means you need to adjust your throttle cable. turn the car off and have someone floor it. adjust the cable so that with this person flooring it, the throttle body is opened all the way. if its not louder, you probably have a bad tps. youll notice 45%, so this test should be good enough. if it was closer to 100%, like say 85%, i wouldnt suggest it as you may not be able to tell the difference. good luck man, keep on dejon'in LOL
 
You can check throttle slack without having the engine running. In fact it's best to do it this way. There's really no reason to have to rev the engine like this for something that can just be checked with a helper or even by yourself.
 
imo its faster that way, but whatever floats your boat. i just figured since its reading 55% that would be really easy
 
It's also a lot safer to do it with your car off but if you decide to do it while it's on, don't forget to let it warm up first.
