are their any special instructions? i am about to sell my car and i wanted to make it look spiffy, but the touch up paint comes out a darker shade of green

...I share your pain dude. I did the same thing on my bros car. I was told that for pearl colored cars you have to either paint the full panel with the fresh paint otherwise the pearls will stack up too much thus making it darker. This even happens on my red eclipse(no pearls). One thing I found out is that if you use a very light prime(gray), it will help lighten up the color coat.

1) Take a piece of fine or medium grit general purpose sand paper and cut out a piece just big enough to glue to the eraser on a pencil.

2) Twist the pencils between two fingers and sand the chip to remove rust and paint flakes along the edge of the chip.

3) Shake up the paint really well. Use a toothpick, dip the tip of it in paint so that there is a little tiny gob of paint at the tip.

4) Place the tip at the center of the chip. Capillary action will put paint into the chip. Add paint as needed, but not too much.

5) Let dry and repeat untill the chip is sufficiently filled. You want to fill so that from the side it buldges a little from the surface.

6) Take some 2000 or higher grit sand paper and use car wash soap as lubricant and wet sand the spot to remove the excess paint.

7) Polish the spot with polishing compound. 3M Imperial Hand Glaze or something a little more aggressive than that.

8) Follow up with a good coat of wax. Car will look just like new and sell for more... especially if you polish the whole car with Imperial Hand Glaze.

*note, if the paint is a pearlescent paint, the touch up paint will never match.

it's pearlescent :( guy buying the car says he doesnt mind though but thanks for the help, im sure it'll help someone out.

Mismatch touh-up is better than rust any day.

Besides, you won't notice it unless you look up close.
