Torque Converter Shudder??

I recently purchased a 1999 GSX w 70k miles and 100% stock. This car was never beat and only 1 lady owner. When I am cruising at about 40-45 under steady throttle, if the throttle is lightly applied the car shudders. I am pretty sure it is the lock-up clutch, but wondering if anyone had other opinions. Fluid looks pretty dirty, but I wouldn't think that would cause this. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The DSM automatic is sensitive to the ATF fluid. My Talon developed that exact problem after my local shop changed the ATF to a generic fluid. After replacement with ATF 4 the symptom went away after a couple hundred miles of adapting.

If the ATF is dirty then change anyway. Don't panic until a few days of driving as the TCU tries to adapt to the friction of the new fluid.

Thanks. I will give it a shot. Alot less work than pulling the trans and replacing the converter so worth a try.
