This is my first time messing with an automatic transmission. I have a used torque converter I was cleaning up and getting ready to install on the transmission. As I was getting ready to pour ATF in, I noticed some kind of seal that didn't look right in the torque converter. Is this supposed to be here and how do I replace it if so?

Thanks.

Big issue I would address would be the pilot bushing and the outer seal of the fluid pump to ensue that these are good. if the pilot bushing, which is inside the collar of the fluid pump turns, it's all bad and needs replaced also along with the outer seal.

.. the one of the many concerns of getting a used TC... take it to a tranny shop on this one.

Good luck

Not to hijack, but also interested in anyone's experience with O'Reilly converter. It's a gunmetal color...

Could this be used for a restall?
