TMO Chip?

Ok, so i bought an EPROM for my car a long time ago, and forgot i had it, . It got packed away when i moved, but i re-discovered it, i was told when i bought it that it was a TMO stage 2 chip, but i have no way to confirm this. It used to have a sticker on it, but looks like it was peeled off. How would i go about checking this? Im pretty sure Technomotive hasnt made anything in a very long time.

Without reading it in it's going to be tough. You could try putting it in the ECU and see if the behaves like a TMO chip but you'll be hard pressed if it has the security option doing anything else.

TMO chips are this point are very dated feature wise.

Yeah, i got it a couple years ago. I just wanted to know if it was a legit TMO chip or just a blank eprom. Ill have to find someone who can read it without erasing it i suppose.

You'll want to put some opaque tape over the window to avoid erasing it. Erasing an EPROM like that one is done by exposing the die under the quartz window to intense UV but uncovered sunlight or fluorescent lamps will erase the bits given time.

Hmm, makes me wonder why it was removed..? But good to know, ill cover it right now!

Likely the glue on the label dried out and it fell off.
