I need to remove my tranny for a rebuild, but have never just taken the tranny out. Anyone have any good advice on how to balance it and wiggle it free of the spline saftly. Most importantly what do you guys do with the motor after with only 1 mount left?

Once the trans is out use a jack to hold the motor up, getting the trans in will be hell your first time around, be prepared

as far as gettin it out, I remove all the bolts, then get under the car and put my knees up against it, wiggle it out and let it fall on my lap, it helps if you pad the sweet spot, as my friend found out one time :)

I just took the tranny out of my car for the first time. What I did was use a jack to lower the tranny. I had to remove the transfer case 1ST. Im not sure if all cars need that or if it is because of having a 3 inch exhaust which I had to move my out of the way.
Make sure you have all the correct tools, and get someone to help you who has worked on cars.

yea i know i was just looking for good tips to keep the motor stable without a front or back mount. Ive just have never pulled JUSt the tranny. so im not sure how the motor balances out.

I did mine like 2 weeks ago for a clutch job. I just used a jack for the motor. I just jacked up under the oil pan with a 2x4 or something else so that you don't crush the oil pan. Getting the trans off is the easy part, getting it back on will take some work and a little luck. Also, make sure you remove anything you think might need to be taken out rather than trying to work around it. There is also a write-up in the tech section that should help. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions and ill try to help you out as much as possible.

I took my tranny out..and I was surprised how easy it was....I just used a bottle jack on some wood blocks to hold the motor up..You could use a normal jack too..I also used a 2x4 with a rag on so I didnt dent/crush the pan.. 2x4 spreading the load..rag providing a little extra padding...

I then used the floor jack to support the tranny as i wiggled it loose...Was a breeze.. here are a few links that I used
