Hi everyone, i'm having a bit of trouble tuning and hopefully get help from folks here. Basically, when i log my runs from 2500 to redline, timing seems to drop to 4 deg at 3400, which is when full boost (21 psi) is reached. After that i get 7 deg at 4000 rpm and progresses steadily after that to around 18 deg at around the 6K area. What i've done to remedy this was richen so much where timing drops, so much so that the afc already goes up the positive side, and still no change, i tried going the other way and leaning it out as much as ten degrees but still the same figures. Also, wideband shows around 10.3 AFR at that point and the knock gauge doesn't move at all, so i'm a little stumped. thanks for any help you guys can give.

MODS:
evo 16g, 660's, fmic, water injection, ported ex mani, 2.5-3 inch dp to exhaust, dsmchip, safc, zeitronix wideband, greddy bov......

i tried leaning it out and the AFR goes up to 11.3 - 11.7, and it just knocks then. I think my car is retarded. currently set, the knock guage doesn't move at all and it give me 4 deg at 3400 rpm, when i lean it out, the knock guage goes up about 4-5 counts and still give me around 4 deg... this is so frustrating....

It is normal for your timing to be pulled when boost hits, in 2G car, timing will always drop when boost hits, more so especially if you are running 21 psi on pump, it is normal for you to see 6 to 4 timing, it should rise steadily from there. Timing curve is completely different in 1G cars, and they don't see big of a drop when boost hits.

What kind of airflow are you logging or seeing on the AFC? If you aren't knocking and you are still getting that low of timing advance I can only guess that the airflow signal is doing something really weird.

thanx for the reply guys. Last airflow i logged was around 28 - 30 something lbs per minute. It just frustrates me to see everyone else's logs and none of them drop down that low. although, after that drop is a very steady increase til about 18 - 19 deg at the top. i think it may be dsmlink time...

It's perfectly normal, to my knowledge, in 2G's for the time to drop to about 5 at around 3k then steadily rise to about 20 or so close to redline. If it makes you feel better at 6.2k RPM's i have 21 degrees and 5 at 3K and it has been like two for my previous 2G. Just tune to get 21 or so degrees close to redline. As long as you see a gradual increase you're good.
