Timing bely wont complete cycle

So, getting ready to install my timing belt, got it on after I got the pump primed. However, when I try to crank it around all the way it stops. I did a complete rebuild. What could it be? I have been using the dsm graveyard timing belt video tutorial.

Is it a complete or does it just get harder to turn how are you turning it use a breaker bar and a socket , should turn all the way around, turn it back and forth and see if the valves are hitting the pistons , this would keep it from turning all the way, you should hear a little "tink" sound. check your timing make sure the crank is tdc and the cams are lined up and level.

and i hope you arnt cranking it with the starter. and quick thing to remember is piston # 1 needs to be top dead center(top), all timing mark all lined up on the bottem and top(head), and after you put the belt on you must spin the crank 6 times(clock wise) before you start the engine.

Take out the spark plugs to make it a little easier on you.

Have you checked to make sure the dowel pins on the camshafts are facing up (12:00) and not down (6:00)? Be very careful not to force the engine to rotate if you suspect the timing to be off. Even hand cranking it you can end up with bent valves if the timing is off far enough.

is the motor in the car yet or still on the stand? if it's in the car make sure the trans isnt in gear.

found out what the problem was. The dowel pin on the exhaust cam was down while the intake was up. Stupid mistake, should have should have caught that one. Now to redo the timing belt process..... yah.
