Timing Belt Replacement Help

First would like to note that I have read the VFaq articles, and many other threads on here trying to solve my problem. I have also done several timing jobs on 4G63's with no problems before. However while finishing up a stock build for my buddies 95 AWD I am having a problem with the timing.

The problem is that the intake cam gear does not have a notch on the right side (The side closest to the firewall). I have both dowel pins pointed up and the 3 notches in-line on the cam gears, but without the 2nd notch on the intake cam gear how can I verify that everything is in time and not a tooth off?

The cams are held on by 2 dowels, the 2 nobs things should be pointed straight up.

Your best bet may be to count the teeth and just mark it 180* from the other mark. you have both pins facing up so you know you have that aligned properly. I would use some white out or a dab of brightly colored paint to mark the opposite side.

Yeah that is what I was thinking. I also am using the count the number of teeth on the belt method from blcknspo0ln's write up. I was just curious if anyone else had any other ways to make sure. I would not be so worried if it was my own motor, but it's for a friend, and I sold him most of the parts so I want to make sure everything will work properly...

Place a straight edge between the cam bolt centers. Timing marks on the gears closest to each other should line up perfectly on the edge when crank is on it's mark.
