At El Capitan, fastest time gets bragging rights and honors. Rules are:

Track: El Capitan
Car: Any Mitsubishi Evolution
Tires: Any tires

You must post you time, weight, power, tires, and vehicle information when submitting a time.

Anything else is a go, but NO driver's aids, two wheels on the track at all times. I just wanted to limit any chance of cheating as much as possible. I also wanted to keep the cars a constant, so it all comes down to driving skill instead of having the fastest car.
No nitrous!

I don't know how to record from the PS2. I just use my camera and uploaded it on youtube.

I think this one should include nitrous, that would be the only spot someone could cheat in. I think it adds a degree of difficulty, because if you use it improperly it will hurt the lap time.

Nah, you dont get to use nitrous in the real world on race tracks. It's interesting to see what people can do with just what's given to them. Personally I'd like to see just one car, one track, no mods. It removes all the variables and levels the playing field for those that dont know how to setup suspensions and transmission ratios.

PS: My nitrous runs generally netted somewhere around 3secs a lap and I used it all the time :shhh:

So are you saying you don't know how to properly setup a car? There are a lot of variables. It trains you to be a better tuner too, better driver, if you can drive a car and know what it needs then you improve as a whole.
In regards to using nitrous. There are plenty of good drivers here that will push the car as hard as they can, some outlandish lap time will definitely raise some concern.
Even though I said no driving aids, it appears Asain312 posted a quick lap without using any compared to the few that have. ;)

Not sure if this is directed at me, but I like to compare driver to driver. I'm kewl with tuning the cars, but it will cause big variations in laptimes. If there are concerns about my lap time I'm more than willing to post up my car's tuning specs, walk through of the track, and a video should proof be needed. But to be truthfully honest that 1.35.555 was a so so lap with still more room in it.

The wonderful thing about GT4 is its physics. Once you've track driven your car in RL, it's amazing how much tranfers into the game. And then there's the time left on the table where you're not worries about damage to your car, tires, personal safety.

Try and keep up :thumb:

TV Capture card is what I use.

I think my graphics card has VIVO (video in video out) but I'd still need a S-cable to HD component adapter. My other option is to use the old Dazzle 80 and hook up the normal component cables or play it on my friends projector and record it. I'm thinking maybe the later since I'll be able to do commentary.

I found the most time in a lap through the first kink on the front straight (only need to lift off the throttle to get the nose down), the elevation change on the up and downhill section (hard to keep the fronts glued to the surface), the 180 'carousel' and the last two esses that lead to the front straight ( intensionally let the fronts push through the first corner like a FWD so I'm setup to get early on the gas for the left before the straight.

Yeah just a bit. It's probably more instinct than anything for me since its exactly the same corner as turn 12 at TWS ( just the opposite direction). To me the car feels just a little more settled for the large radius left.

I'm going to attempt to make a video with the help of a friend tonight. Anyone care to disclose their car setup?

So far I've been trying to nail the setup. Still at 1'36.4xx I know for a fact I can do better. My car doesn't like the R5 tires as of now for some reason, but I know there is time in using those tires, so I'm trying to make the full switch. ;)
