finally started doing some wot runs in the galant and everything was fine until i up-shifted into 3rd and could feel the car going slower so i looked at the boost gauge and i was only boosting a couple lbs. The logger showed no knock so i tried one more pull and the same thing happened and it sounded like an exhaust leak. So i baby it to the house and put my had under the dump tube and felt exhaust pulsating out at idle. It also seemed like there was less exhaust coming out the back. So i figured it was the tial 39 ewg. I started pulling it off and noticed that the spring and the diaphragm were in place with no holes or tears. So now am starting to wonder if it is the wastegate. I'am going to mail it out anyway to make sure its all right but does anyone have an idea of what else could be the problem?
Has anyone had a tial wastegate break on them?
do my symptoms sound like a broken wastegate?
What else goes bad on wastegate other then the spring and diaphragm?
if its not the wg any idea what would cause low boost and make a ewg stay open at idle?
thanks for any help
