hey i just bought a 95 Eclipse GSX that isnt running right and has basic bolt ons..

bolt ons are..

injen intake piping and filter
hard upper intercooler piping
blitz BOV
3inch Megan Down pipe and full exause

OBD codes im throwing up are.

P0170- fuel trim bank 1
P0141- 02 sensor heater circuit bank 1
P1400- manufacturer specific code
P0505- idle air control system

affects are..

- major horse power/torque loss
- has trouble idling when just started but after driving around the nieghborhood it idles ok sometimes.
- running lean so its dumping fuel like crazy and only get about 150 miles full tank

i would appreciate the help.. thank u

Yeah I was looking at it and saw that the upstream o2 sensor were cut..former owner tried connecting an air/fuel gauge and just didn't connect the wires back...I soldered it back together and cleared the codes but still runs the same and got the codes back after drive around the neighborhood and still lack of horsepower n torque...so tomorrow I'll buy a new o2 sensor and see how it goes...thanks for the help

I would have a shop with a scanner capable of pulling factory DTCs to find out more along with a little scope data. Not sure but a Haynes manual might tell you how to test the Idle air control motor circuit. Upstream O2 wiring not in the greatest health especially after the wires being spliced. When ever a splice is made a resistance is now added to that point and maybe is aftecting the heater circuit wire. A new O2 will always be a win situation. wish you best of luck

If it was run with that sensor in place but not in use, I'm willing to bet it is fouled up with carbon deposits and is probably shot. You could attempt cleaning it with something like MAF cleaner, but that's probably not going to fix it. I'd just get another one.

Also, it's running rich in open loop. Not lean.

The P0505 code is suggesting your IACV is shot too. The previous owner may have attempted to make a "race throttle body" and disconnected it or blocked it off, or it may just have died... the motor in them tends to kick the bucket pretty easily. Personally, I like having automatic idle control and not having to tune my idle to the weather. That's another thing you'll want to look at. It's the sensor with 6 wires to it on the bottom left of the throttle body if you're looking at it from the passenger side.

Thank u guys for ## help...I just changed my 02 sensor today and got all the power back and there is a very huge difference...I'm just waiting now to see how many miles I will get with a full tank...cleared the codes and I'll check it either tomorrow or the day after to see what codes I'll be throwing (no CEL bulb..former owner pulled it out..but will get one torrow.) ..

Now that the engine can see what it is doing, you should be getting much better gas mileage. Something you'll want to check after running that rich for that long is if your plugs are fouled and covered in soot. Scrubbing them off will help a bit too. If your idle is not controlling itself well, the next thing to check is the idle air control valve...

Thanks I'm going to check that tomorrow ### it does run like crap when it's not warmed up

So I replaced my upstream 02 sensor and car started getting way better gas mileage and now 300 miles later the p0170 code popped up again and it says I have a bad a bad 02 sensor bank 2...bank 2 is the down stream one right?
