Just like fuel additives and RESTORE additive don't work.

theres a test somewhere on the internet using lucas gear oil addative. it shows that it actually helped the gear oil 'climb' but it also caused horrible foaming. LOL

I wish I wsould've saw this thread a week or two ago.

I had a perfect running 93 tsi and I bought some of that lucas oil treatment. Figuring maybe it will quiet the engine down a little bit. Some of the lifters and valves that is. Well I bought it from a garage and it was sealed so I don't believe they did anything to it.

Anyways I put this stuff in and nothing happens. I figured it will thin out with the oil. After about 2 weeks I noticed my oil pressure wasn't the greatest or where it should've been. I use a K&N oil filter and 10-40 Castrol Syntec oil. So I added a quart because I was a little bit low but it didn't help the pressure any. And I noticed the engine was if not louder than before.

So I bought the stuff to change the oil to get this crap out of it. When I go to unscrew the oil filter it weighed at least 2lbs! I put it on an electronic scale and it said 2.348lbs. I was pissed. I cut the oil filter apart and the inside looked like as if someone put bubble gum inside the elements of the filter.

Well no more than 3 days later the motor sounds weird. I'm not sure what kind of weird but it was different. So I made an appoitment at the garage for Wed. I was out driving around and everytime I would apply the throttle, boost or not, there was alot of smoke coming out the back. Monday, I was on my way to school and it sounded like nuts in a folgers can. I'm figuring, shit, whats up now. I go it pull into work, which I pass on my was to school, The motor pops and locks up the wheels for a second and I coast into the parking lot where it dies. So I push it around back and attempt to start it and it sounds extremely tight. but finally breaks free and runs but not well at all.

I theorize that this crap was too think for my car and caused a lack of lubrication and gummed up the oil pump causing no oil to be circulated and caused my motor to blow. I believe it spun a bearing and took a rod out with it.

Sorry for the rant but the only thing I used in my previous vehicles (explorer and Jetta) was that restore and I can vouch that it seems to work. I can tell a difference. Not like MAD HORSEPOWA, but everything seems smoother, but I figured I would try something different and I got the shaft on that one.

Thanks for your time.

i use the lucas oil treatment, and it makes my lifter tick go away sooner than just plain castrol GTX 10w 30.
so far no complaints, but then again i cant really tell if its doing anything bad..

That's some great information. I admit i bought into the bs. I had a 79 chevy c-10 that had noisy lifters. I paid $25 for that Motor Up crap at Wal-Mart and it didn't do a damn thing. In fact I think the noise got worse. After that I quit buying any type of oil additive. Now I'm really convinced they're a waste of money.

I use the lucas oil stabalizer in my car and it works great...granted my car is on it's last legs anyway. I would lose 3 quarts of oil a month from exterior leaks and my rings being blown. I put a quart of lucas in and the car smokes less and only takes a quart between oil changes...also seems to run a wee bit smoother but that could be the placebo effect.

I swear by Lucus!!! I ran it in my 89 Cutlass for 8 years until I sold it with 370,000 miles on it.

I use the engine restore get rid of the noisy lifters. Been using it for a decent period of time, maybe 20,000 miles and I have noticed no side effects. I don't use it however because i think it restores my compression or whatknot, I just love that purple stuff because my lifters are completely silent after I use it. Just my 2 cents.
