I just recently pulled out my motor and its going under a full rebuild during winter. I'm trying to eliminate all of the things that i dont need like ac and stuff like that. I have no clue what some of these things are and I need your help to see what they are and if they are needed. This project will be for drag. Thanks.

A lot of people remove things like the egr valve and the charcoal canister. Most evap stuff, solenoids and sensors. WHY???

My .02, if you want you’re to run like it should, leave it.

If you really want to remove the a/c... make sure you do it the right way. But other than that none of the other stuff is slowing you down, so why?

Old thread from the dead. I still have a couple questions.

For the solenoids removal, do I just unplug the clips that is connected to the solenoids and leave it like that or am I suppose to leave them connected?

Also what are the 2 ? marks that I have marked above the a/c to the top left? How do you remove the cruise control line connected to the box with the throttle body line?

Drag/fun car to drive during the weekend. I'd like to take it out at the track sometimes. I won't be driving this thing more than once a week. Maybe 2 or 3 times a month. I'm rebuilding it from bottom up.

Any solenoids you remove without replacing with a proper electrical load will give you CELs.

I'm thinking about removing the EGR system with the blockoff plate and blocking off the vuccum hoses. Should I leave the sensor plug on the solenoid in and plug the hoses shut? Do you guys have any idea what the 2 question marks that I've circle on the top left above the ac in the picture?
