hey guys yesterday me and my buddy put on my new evo3 with extreme psi's install kit. For all of the people who are scared, nervous or don't feel comfortable doing it ( like my pansy azz was), grab ur stuff and just do it. i was amazed at how easy it was. yes it does take a very long time, it took me about 10 hours (cuz i took my time and made sure i was very well organized). I would say that the difference is already noticeable just at 11 lbs. i have it this low cuz im waiting to get my pocketlogger in so i can put on my 680 injectors, walbro 190 and safc2. but like i sed before, putting on a BOLT ON turbo looks difficult but once you get going its very easy. HERE'S A FEW TIPS< POINTERS.

1. make sure you get pb blaster, rtv sealant, anti-seize lube, and some flare, and gear wrenches. theses are absolutely crucial.
2. have some sort of breaker bar because all the bolts are in there like you wouln't believe ( but be careful).
3. be careful draining the coolant, it's so pressurized and full it tends to wanna go everywhere especially with the lines on the turbo.
4. about the lines on the turbo. people tend to think this is the hardest part. IT'S THE EASIEST. the top line on the turbo is where the stainless steel line goes, where it connects by the oil filter, don't even worry about salvaging the oil hard line, cut it at the turbo and down byt the oil filter then take the connection off with a socket. the bottom line on the turbo is for the oil return line ( you will make this from the parts supplied in the install kit, and the hose hasta be trimmed a little). the other two lines are coolant, it's impossible to screw these up since how they direct themselves ( you will need to buy about a foot of new 3/8 inch hose for the bottom coolant line).
5. trim small amounts off the intercooler pipe to make it fit with the j-pipe (may wanna find a j-pipe that is already boost tapped, i say this because i had to leave a vaccum line of my lower nipple on my greddy type-s and it made a diff, not as loud now.
i can't really think of nething else, but it really is an easy project just be ready to hurt like hell afterwards, take ur time, and do it right, and she'll start right up afterwards!

goodluck, i didn't really know where to post this, but i was so pumped afterwards i had to get it posted! if anyone has any questions about the installation or other suggestions please comment, this is how dsm's get ahead of the game, and believe me we're starting to get competition! :D :thumb: :talon:

you should make a tech article on how to install the 14/16g on a 2g with install kit or something the rather. :thumb:

Sorry, just find that funny. ROFL

Congrats on doing it yourself though. It is a nice turbo for the price. Now get the supporting mods on and tuned and turn up the boost. :thumb: Good luck.

Yeah it's really not that difficult to do, yesterday was the first time I ever touched a turbo on any car. I did about 95% of the work, my dad helped me get one of the bolts off on the manifold to turbo, did the filing of the oil return line, and bent the water lines for me while I made a run to the store.

I might have a boost leak at the j-pipe because there is quite some lag (shouldn't be much if none at all), the bolts that it came with are too long and I couldn't get the left bolt all the way in...I'll prob look for some shorter ones.

I dont want to get my coolant/water in/out lines confused, So Im gonna ask in this thread..

The coolant line side of the turbo thats facing the engine side goes on which part of the coolant connection on the coolant system? (theres 2 coolant lines on each side of turbo) (For a 2g install)

The top or bottom? Thats all I need to know.

thanks in advance

open your own thread wit hthe proper title...

If not your question is worthless because

(a) the answer has been given but can't be found b/c someone did the same thing as you

or

(B) you are to lazy to search and you don't care about helping the next guy

I help anyone I possibly can on this forum, Where did those comments come from? I will do more searching if indeed the answer is in another thread. thanks

Great job!
If I may suggest:
They're always looking for new/good tech articles.
Read through this:

Add/correct anything you need to(capital letters, spelling, etc).
Maybe go back and add even more detail and pics if you have them.
Follow the rules and submit your article for consideration.

You have a PM

I thought just for reference, that if anyone else ever had the same question as me I would just post the obvious. There are 2 coolant line hardpipes going off the coolant system.

the water feed lines the very top one (on the coolant system) (on the engine side of turbo)
the water return lines the bottom one (on the coolant system) (on radiator side of turbo)

vfaq may be a little confusing for some so I hope this helps someone in the future.

Now top that off with a complete intake leak test and you can call the installation complete, nice job.

I believe I ended up just running the water lines to the easiest route...the coolant just goes in one end and out the other I think. Once you get the the intake pipe in there, you'll realize there's not much clearance for the hoses and it looks all cluttered.
