As with the original, "2 Fast 2 Furious" is going to cause a stir in our community and a lot of that stir is going to occur in this forum.

I foresee several types of posts becoming more frequent in this forum.

1. Trolls posting for no other reason that to incite a reaction

2. People who actual went out and bought an import because of the movie and are now looking for help

3. People looking for advice because they want to go out and buy an import because of the movie

First off, let me say that it is extremely difficult to tell the difference between a troll and someone new and ignorant to the hobby. Trolls are actually very rare. Most times a post will be at least based on reality, even if you aren't getting all the facts.

Because of this, we need to treat every post as if it's real. If you have any doubts, report the post to a moderator.

It is very important that we still respond to the thread as if it's real even if we think it is a troll. Otherwise, new people viewing the site for the first time may get the wrong idea about the community.

Additionally, it is very easy for us to forget that at one time all of us didn't even know the basics. We need to remember that these people may not have a clue and we are here to educate them to the very basics that they may not have been aware of, like first mods, or not to vent the bov, etc.

Additional topics that can be discussed on these threads would be upgrade path, the fact that awd is better and more appropriate for high performance than fwd, and the importance of researching before purchasing.

Let's use the "2 Fast 2 Furious effect" as a chance to educate more people about our hobby and be careful not to alienate any "extreme beginners" that may find our site.

Hello everyone. Cool sight. This my first post. I bought a Eagle Talon AWD Turbo for 250.00 that was justing sitting in a field when I was coming back from the track near my house. Timing belt broke. My daily driver is a Neon with a 2.4 Dohc I did my self. I never post and have been reading learing about DSM's on this sight for over a month. Been into the sport compact thing for about 6 yrs. Way before the movie let me say that. Also had my share if owning hondas. They are good cars just not for me. The movie is good bc it brings people to the tuner scene. Bad bc it give the police a reason to look at you different and basically assume you are up to no good. Good bc makes the scene bigger and better. Bad bc you have everyone street racing instead of taking it to the track. In my town of Lubbock, Tx 250k we have a couple of message boards ( mostly Z28's or Stangs) and the cops actually went on there registered and flat out said they would pull you over if you looked like trouble. Bad. Very bad.

just because you look like trouble? sounds to me like the police are asking for legal trouble against them... if someone pulled my car over for no reason (and i was in a creative mood), i'd ask for his badge and car #s so i could call the department and report him for harassing me. happened one night in my topaz (aka ford tempo), but i was too tired to care

and? that was it? then you've got an even bigger complaint, wrongful arrest/imprisonment/or somesuch... if they don't arrest you or take you into custody with a reason, then you can throw it back at them

Back on topic *cough*

We need to talk to the kids that watch the TFART films before they think they are in the least bit factual. I hope every kid that sees the sequel will join this site and find the education that he/she needs. Let's try hard not to jump down too many throats (which I do way too much).

Just a thought...

or not to vent the bov

i think dsmturbos (Todd) and a few others will back me on this.....theres nothing wrong with a little venting....

some of us have a very loud exhaust (tanabe super racing medallion spec 2 prototype blah blah)and its nice to match that :D

or im a riceboy...whatever haha

anyway in reguards to the topic, im more worried about law enforcement watching us import people because of the movie(like after the first one). i dont have anything outstanding on my car asside from the muffler but for those of us who like body kits and what not it could get to be a hassle.
