kirtland,
I have a 99 with a 2.4l in it. Will a test pipe slow me down or not? Do i need back pressure or not really.

I would keep your cat on an N/T since it will help you maintain low end torque. Cat removal is considered more important on turbo cars since our main goal is to reduce backpressure. In case you're wondering, I tried this on my 95 GS many years ago and lost plenty of low end. Putting a high flow on seemed like a great compromise and gave me good flow without killing torque.

Hope that helps,

Andy

If your worried about your cat taking up power..get a high flow cat because a test pipe is a replacement pipe for a cat...and will make your car illegal in emmission areas.
Backpressure isnt that important on NA vehicles...but backpressure is essentially restrictions in exhaust flow, and heat will build up in an exhaust, having the exhaust actually travel the opposite direction and burn up engine components. Sometimes you need sufficient backpressure, and other times you dont want it.
