soo i test drove a tsi awd today it was a 90 in good codition brand new rebilt motor with less than 30k miles on it and the boost was set at only 10 psi, when i got on it right befor the redline it was like it just hit a rev limiter or fuel cut or something i havent ever expericened this befor i was only on side streets so i wasnt gonna push it in second and find out if it did it in second too, what do you think it could be i really like the car and for 1700 bucks its a steal!!
 
If its running and driving, and you really want one, its a good deal. The fuel cut thing is easy to fix, its probably just over running that stock 1g maf.

Find out how old the clutch is, brand name, balance shafts or none, any leaks, any accidents, who did most of the mechanic work, check for turbo shaftplay, etc.....

If it all checks out, bring it home and do a timing belt ASAP. I've seen too many 1g's purchased from prevous owners that have low mileage on the car, but have never changed the belt. I've seen belts break and ruin cars with 50k original miles, or 30k on rebuilt engines. Change all the accessory belts, perhaps the water pump while you're in there and change all the drivetrain fluids. :thumb:

Do maintenance and get to know your new/used car. You'll thank me later.
 
oh yeah i have seen to many people get flamed for turnign the boost up before matenice ha not gonna be me its running 10 psi and its a new turbo no shaft play i checked, new ported and polished head got wescion(spelling?) pistons bc 272 all stock fuel the guy doesnt know if its just a muffler or whole exhausr but i think its a full turbo back ill post pics when i pic it up tomorrow so you can help me figure out what exhaust it is, i think it has a o2 houing and downpipe but not sure it looked kinda big to be stock but thats about it ill post picture of her tomorrow =)
 
All stock fuel? With the mods, I believe you should be running 550 injectors and at least a Walbro 190/255. That would explain the possible fuel cut, especially since you didn't mention anything about any after-market management devices which I (again) believe should be used with those cams to run/time right.

Thought I could be incorrect, I can't see spending the money on those mods, and then cheaping-out on fuel system/management.
 
With some more info we could probably help you out. It may be a boost leak it may be fuel cut. With such a vauge description of the mods done it makes it kinda hard ya know? At first thought one would think boost leak so I'll go with that.
 
yeah like i said i will try and get more info for you i mean its only runing 10psi thats under stock, you wouldnt need bigger injectors its probably not fuel cut and you dont need a tune for cams just timing

first thing i planned on doing was fmic because it looks cool and functions and if its a boost leak it would most likely eliminate this

found out today that the whole head what rebilt with bc springs and valves and what not, the clutch feel brand new! like it is really strong, and its stock he says, which idk about that it doesn't even slip a little bit
he did most of the work,(hes asain LOL) whats a balance shaft? where is it/how do i know if it has one?
no leaks, no crashes or anything bov is recurculated like it should be the only problem it has is the cutting in and out at 5.5k and rigth before red line other than that she purrs
