I've recently went through my right of passage with my DSM. My door handle broke and just completely fell off. Was wondering if anyone made any temporary door handles to cover up the nice hole in my door until I get some extra funds to actually fix it.

I had the same happen over the winter i got the repare kit fixed them now there like new and no need to repaint a dstuners member makes them he is called azdave

I had one break and then 3 weeks later the other! WTF. I had to put a rope on the inside drivers door handle and run It to the back. To get in, I would unlock with alarm remote, then open the hatch and pull the rope. I got new ones from JNZ Tuning, I tried to get them painted, but non of the body shops would do it, I guess to small of a job.....not enough money to be made. They are a biatch to install!

Now that is some good thinking right there LOL. I bought my talon with a broken handle, guy said he just left the window cracked everywhere he went. I got the one off of eBay to replace it but it isn't as good as the stock ones.

Taking the door panels off is easy and normal to any other car. one screw bottom towards hinge end two by the inside handle...one holds the trim by the handle and another below it. panel comes off from the bottom first and unhooks from the top. getting the new handle in and connecting the linkage is a whole different thing...that, my friend is a bit#h!.

IT is alot easier to deal with the linkage if you take the 3 torx head bolts from the latch and lower it down. That gives you room to get the linkage connected. New door handles are like 20 bucks from the part store and usually in stock.

That's good to know. I got them both in and working, but on both of them I was not able to snap that plastic piece around the linkage rod...It has not come out yet. I got the handles from JNZ and they were not expensive. They are still black, never got them painted.

+1 on that advice. I spent the good part of an hour trying to get the linkage connected without lowering the latch. Lowered the latch like bryanwheat said and it went right together

ITs probably something that, if youve got the money to spend and dont want the hassle, just hire it out. Find a craigslist mechanic or local shop to do it. My pass. handle is looking loose so the fear is in me LOL
