I recently bought another dsm and I was told it might have a 16G in it. I have searched and can't find any way to tell the difference between a 14B and a 16G. I have a 14B dissasembled on the work bench and I'm looking at this 16G installed. They both have TDO5H stamped on them so I guess my question is : What does a 16G look like??

if you look at the compressor wheel on the 14b, you will notice it only has one set of fins. A 16g will have two sets of fins on the compressor wheel. If i had a picture i'd post it, but i cant find one on my comp.

Look at the compressor wheel of the turbo on the car. Single set of compressor fins is a 14b, two sets of compressor fins is a 16g.

Ok so I pulled off the intake and snapped a picture, It's definatly a 16G :thumb: Now I have two more questions.

1- How can you tell the difference between a Small and Big 16G ???

2- I compared my 1G exhaust manifold to this one and they are a little different, Can anyone tell me if this is a 2G manifold??

This website kicks ass!! I have been a member for almost two years and every time I have a question someone is there to help. Keep up the good work everybody, I appreciate everything ;)

You can't unless you disassemble the turbo and measure the compressor blades.

It's hard to tell from the picture, but it's definitely something you can feel. 2g manifolds are higher quality than the 1g manifolds and have a more 'heavy duty' feel to them, if you ever did a side-by-side comparision you could tell immediately. 2g manifolds are more resistant to cracking and have better flow characteristics.

p.s. Easy on the bumps. A moderator will swoop down on this faster than a Klingon Bird-of-Prey decloaking on a Federation starship in the Neutral Zone...
