I tapped hose #36 to my FMU thinking it was brake booster. Have a 255 walbro, is there any problems, should I change it? I think it is getting vacuum, but I dont know if its right. I don't have the turbo in yet, and I guess I am lucky I found this out now. I tapped off the short part before the PCV

haha as long as you tapped inbetween the PCV and the Intake manifold you're fine, positive and negative pressure are both seen there. You cannot tap between the PCV and the Valve cover though.

I have it tapped off of the 4th plug in the back of the mani,(not numbered in the picture) i know its getting vacume as i pulled the hose off and checked, also it seems to be working fine,,, but i dont have my a/f gauge yet,,,, i also ran a hose from the fmu by the fpr all the way to the front which was not that hard considering all i had to do was tuck it underneath the metal tubes/pipes w/e that already ran under the car.

PS. wait till u get the turbo in!! i finished putting mine in this weekend and HOLY SHI*T!! good luck

Any nipple on the back of the manifold is fine:thumb:

Just make sure you aren't smoking any.

Time to change that vehicle profile and post up some pics:thumb:

Just changed the profile and as for the pictures i have some but they are on my camera and its Missing In Action,,,, soon tho :)

profile still says 99 eclipse n/t

LOLlercakes @ tapping the pcv...out of all your posts, you think it would have been obvious to get a vacuum source from behind the intake manifold. most say you should give the fpr it's own vacuum source...I have a 95, so I tapped my stock fpr line w/no probs.

yea I tapped my boost gauge back there and even tapped the other line going to the right with a t and a cap for my bov, but for some reason I didn't even think about it and tapped into the PCV. I guess thats how things get messed up though. I think I will leave it for now and if I see any problems, I will switch it up.

I have the hose routed through the firewall hole under the passenger side carpet, then running under the carpet along the door line trim, then up into the backseat and into the FMU. The FMU is flopping around my backseat, but everything is clamped tightly so there wont be another leak. How can I route the vaccuum line outside the car without having it hang etc.

Zip ties..Clamps, get creative..use whatever you can to attatch it to anything else that runs underneath the car..

Definitely do not leave it that way though, too much stuff could happen and Kink that line with it routed in the car, and since it has to do with fuel delivery, that would be NO bueno..

just do what i did
drill and tap nipples into the intake manifold

now everything that needs vacuum has its own source so i dont need to worry about T's or splitters

In my 99, there is a row of like 4 or 5 metal lines running down the length of the car, i loosened the bolts that held those metal lines and tucked in the hose underneath and tightened it up, seems to be working just fine ;) if you really want i can get you a picture,,

I think you are talking about your fuel lines which i dont recommend touching. Also if you are running a hose underneath your car i suggest putting it inside of a hard bendable plastic tubing then zip tie it to safe areas under the car.

I think he's talking about the brake lines. There aren't four or five fuel lines, just two. As long as the brake lines aren't opened, there is no harm in keeping the vac line next to it.
