Was wondering if there is something I can buy to keep a good shiny look while tinting? I saw a vinyl type film on Ebay and it sparked my interest as I've wanted to tint my tails for a while

I've done nightshades before and had it look incredible. The key is to wetsand before the clear. Also use high quality autmotive clear.

Bingo ;) Plus I have a set of stockers if anything happens with the cops. No point in tinting a set just to remove it later, do it once, do it right.

Do not use nightshades, I have not seen one person do it and look good yet.
Lamin-x.com best stuff, period.

^This.

Proper prep is key, when I get home later today I'll post a link that's got lots of good info in it.

I use a smoked vinyl film on customer's taillights. I have used Lamin-X and found that the film is quite thick and on cars with a lot of curve, the film will just pull back.

I now use RVinyl and works quite well. I sometimes use steam to get it to conform to really curvy tails.

I just prefer a vinyl application, instead of spraypainting a set of lights. The vinyl can be removed right there on the spot if you get pulled over for it...

Am I missing something, they only make the film for newer eclipses..Or do you just buy a sheet and cut to fit??

I used the lens tint from autozone. Did it on 2 different vehicles. Spent hours wet sanding and doing everything right. And just sprayed the other one while it was on the car. No sanding. Just wiped it down with a rag to get dust off. They look 99% the same

Decisions decisions! I do like the film idea I tried spraying my old sidemarkers and my friend's tails and both came out sub-par...but were prepped poorly

In order for niteshade to look good, wetsand with 800 first (the surface needs to be textured or else it doesnt stick as well), do a coat of niteshade, wetsand with 1500, do another coat, wetsand even mooorreee, then clear, and buff. They will shine like crazy ;)

I have never sanded my tailights on a car before I tint them incase I have to take it off.you can just let it soak in gasoline or fingernail polish remover for a few and wipe it off , I do agree that film tint looks better to though.

Niteshade is the cheapest and easiest way for a great smoke... Like others have said. Wetsanding makes it look great. I have no clear on my 3 coats and its still really shiny.
