I am about to buy a T-28 killer. It is ported and has a 34mm flapper on it. It has 30k miles on it. I noticed there aren't too many of these owners on the boards, but was hoping for a few to chime in. How much power are these things making? Would it be able to make my 325 goal (with supporting mods), and are these things reliable? 30k miles seems a lot of miles on a turbo, and I really dont want it to blow within 20 miles of me putting it on... Also, what is the inlet size of the turbo, and how big are the inlets for the intercooler piping? 2.25? Any help or info on this turbo would be greatly appriciated...

Also, I will be running a fmic, 560's, and safcII. That should be enough fuel, correct?

i predict 300 whp, i have been researching the same setup, but im going with the larger side mount instead of a front mount, and 550s

Your goal of 325 hp would me more easily obtained on a larger turbo (maybe evo316g) that is still very streetable. Just to use the dyno sheets as a refrence (http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/dynosheets.php?do=horsepower&perpage=25&page=1) the only t28 i saw on there was making 220 hp. There is room for more power of course, but then again there are a lot more people making more power with the 16g turbo. There are plenty of vendors selling these turbos brand new for under 600, or you could go for a used one for even cheaper. Just my oppnion, I would go for something larger :thumb:

You're probably looking at the regular T28 which is a lot small than the bigt28 and the t28 killer. The T28 killer isn't a T28 really. It utilizes a similar compressor cover, but has a 16g wheel inside of it. It flows 500 or so cfm's, but I'm sure a little more with the porting job. Sure I could get an EVO16g, but then I would have to get an install kit. Right there I'm at 700 bucks. I'm getting this turbo (which bolts right up) for half that price. I really wanted some owner's inputs, not someone telling me to go bigger or get an EVO16g.

I have the FP Big T-28 and i like it. i bought it with the car and had to get it rebuilt to boost again, but if i could do it all over again i would have gone with the 16g because you will always want more. check my mods. I would tell you how much HP I'm running but i don't know and I'm not gonna bench race.

I had a Big T28 Killer on my Eclipse when I still had it. Don't forget about a fuel pump. I can't answer the inlet sizes since I sold it, but I never had any problems as far as reliability. If you're getting that turbo that cheap then get it! After you put on a full turboback exhaust you'll be at 15psi by 2500rpm's in 3rd :thumb:

I've got everything in my car except 560's, fmic (coming this week), afc and logger. How many miles did you put on the turbo?

If i upgrade to a T-28 will i have to replace intercoolers and things like those? or can i just bolt it staright on and go?

yes, u can bolt it straight on and go. but u cant turn the boost up. u will need a fuel pump and injectors and some type of fuel computer to control the fuel, like an AFC. but it is a straight replacement for a t25. i would at least upgrade pumps if it were me though. just to be safe.

The turbo on my car (stock turbo) has lasted for over 150,000. It's going to be getting replaced with a t-28 in the not-as-near-as-I'd-like future, but is still going strong. I wouldn't be too concerned about the thing dying. Do you know the person selling this to you? Just my opinion.

Also, let me know how the swap out goes. I'd like to know if I should keep looking at the t-28 killer, or just stay stock. I don't really want to get into fuel control systems at all. If I get the killer, I'd just upgrade the injectors, and call it a day.

my t-28, with allsupporting mods pushes between 330-355 whp but the turbo is rated to 375 claim hp,with good supporting mods your t-28 can blow a few evo 16g's bye bye! :dsm:

The basic T-28 model, rated at 500CFM, uses the same housing as the T-25, with just a larger compressor wheel, and it bolts right on. The "killer" variant has a different housing, and it utilizes a larger compressor housing, hence flowing more air. There has been more research done with the 16Gs. A T-28 killer and an EvoIII16G flow around the same amount of air (though you will require an install kit for the latter), and I would go for the 16G, since there is a wealth of information on that turbo out there. The T-28 looks great on paper, but I'm not sure I've seen too many people run it. It should cost you about the same either way, since the 16G is cheaper but the install kit makes prices even. There is also something called a T-28 Eliminator (sometimes called "killer" from the sites I've surfed) that requires a kit, and has a different housing alltogether (no J-pipe style). that's rated at 500hp, compared to T-28s 300-380 hp.
