^This should be a sticky, since I can't find any ONE specific thread that outlines the symptoms of crankwalk, and lists them off.

So I ask...what are the symptoms of crankwalk and what should I be looking for or listening for if I do have it?

Thanks

You apparently didn't look too hard. I see them around here all the time.

Symptoms (off the top of my head, I'm sure there's some I'm not thinking of)

Clutch drops to the floor on hard left turns (crank pushes pressure plate back)
Clicking from the timing belt side of the engine when clutch pedal is pressed (crank eating the crank angle sensor)
RPMs drop when clutch pedal is pressed (pressure on crank from pressure plate moves crank and puts more load on the rotating assembly).

The easiest way to check for crankwalk is, of course, to check the endplay of the crank.

Hope this helps.

one quick at a listening glance is a light ticking noise coming from lower timing belt area near the crankpulley ( harmonic balancer ) with the engine idling and clutch pedal depressed. indicating the crankshaft sensor reluctor is hitting the crankshaft sensor. the best way to check would be with a dial indicator on the harmonic balancer end of the crankshaft measuring crankshaft end play. i do not recall the exact measurement specification but will post later.

LOL! LOL! LOL!

If it has gotten bad enough, you will have trouble getting the car into gear.

When it gets bad enough, like my 93 did, you can actually grab the front pulley and pull/push the crank back and forth in the block. Then you know its junk.

Locked for obvious reasons.

If you would search you would find a humongous amount of information pertaining to what you are looking for.
