Yes,

I know it is sort of an extreme question, but I am sure that some of you are extreme. :D

This question is for my GVR4 but the same rules apply.

I bought a set of (4) 9011 HIR bulbs for my Chrysler Town and Country Minivan.

Two went for the projector high beams. The other were supposed to go to the fogs but I changed my mind since they are a pain to get into.

Anyways, the bulbs are high beam 65w bulbs that are replacements for 9005 bulbs that go in the high beams.

However, they also fit the low beam socket (stock bulb is a 9006)...but they will be 65 watts not 55w.

I guess I should also be slightly concerned about melting harnesses, but I was just wondering what effect if any the extra 10 watts would have on horsepower because I am greedy. :D

I don't feel like spending another 30 bucks to get a set of HIR 9012 bulbs that are 55w and intentded for the low beams either.

It is pretty dark where I live and I had to get rid of the fog lights since this state requires a front license plate and I have an ETS FMIC. So getting every ounce of light that I can get is most helpful.

Putting the bulbs in the brights section would also be useless since I can only use my brights for a few seconds around here.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I wonder if this is about like saying the car will make less horsepower with the radio on.

I ended up purchasing HIR 9012 bulbs for the low beams.

If anything, I will probably be better off electrically. Also want to make sure that fuel pump is getting as much juice as it can.

dont know why you would ever consider a bulb higher than 55w thats dangerous! ive seen blue 55w watt bulbs melt a harness on a civic.

35w 4300k hid kit in you high beams would be twice as bright as the 65w and be much safer.

To answer your question, assuming the alternator is 20 percent efficient, you are talking about a total loss of 20 Watts electric, or 100 Watts mechanical, which is 0.132 horsepower.
