Alright, I did a search and didnt find what I was looking for. Which is specifically running HID high beam only lights. I have purchased a kit from a member here that is a 9004 12,000k kit for the high beams only, which is what I've always wanted. I dont want to blind people with my low beams so Im sticking to running 9006 Silvania Silver stars there, but would like my brights to be super bright and light a wide area ahead and side to side. Because we have issues with deer running into the road as you're driving up, so a wide high beam may just save my car someday.

I guess my question is, since all I've found is low beam retrofit articles, how do I go about doing the high beams? I was happy to read that the 2g wiring harness is already wired to handle the HID ballasts, so Im not going to worry about wiring in an extra fuse block and relay.
Is the kit I bought pretty much plug and play? Im not going to install a projector, because I want the wide spread of bright light. I dont plan on running around with my brights on all the time, so glare for other drivers isnt an issue.
I also understand HID's require a "fire up time" before they are at their brightest levell, but there seriously is little traffic around here and the deer (and turkeys) are what Im worried about.
Thanks in advance for any help!

If you purchased one of the Ebay kits it should be plug and play. However, I am kinda confused on what you're really wanting to do. You used the term "retrofit" but then say that you WONT be using projectors. A retrofit consists of installing an OEM projector (like say from a Acura TL) into your stock headlight housings which takes a lot of custom work. With this, you typically use the OEM HID bulbs which are usually D2S/D2R etc. The bulbs however are generally low beams bulbs. The 12000K kit that you purchased will also give LESS light ouput btw, most OEM HID bulbs are usually in the 4300K range which gives the most light output.

I'm thinking that you just want to install the kit into your stock headlight housings and be done with it. If that's the case then your kit should be direct plug and play which involves removing the stock halogen bulbs, installing the new HID bulbs in the headlights and connecting the plugs into the harness. I also noticed that you said you purchased a 9004 kit but aren't 2G Hi beams 9005's?

Hey there,
Well I havent bought the kit yet, but pretty much have. Its from another member here, and he had it on his 1g car, and I noticed 2gs do use 9005 bulbs, but whats the difference? As far as I can tell there is no difference, except maybe the lower the last digit the brighter the bulb?
It's not a retrofit kit in the sense of having a projector lense, its a retrofit in the sense its supposed to be plug and play for a 9004 bulb. As in I think you're supposed to be able to just put the HID bulb in the factory housing, and plug the ballasts into the harness and thats it.

So, what's the difference between a 9004 and 9005?

Also, I thought the higher the K number the brighter the lights are?

No the higher the k the bluer your light gets. A 12000k kit will be almost purple in colour and not give you great visibility. If your looking for best visibility try a 4500-6000k kit.

My current HID kit was purchased on Ebay, even though I'll eventually do a retrofit in the near future. The quality of these kits are a "hit or miss" situation. My kit was under $70 shipped and so far has been holding up pretty well. I would suggest just to get the kit with the "correct bulbs" and be done with it especially if it's way cheaper. The only thing that can go wrong with these kits are ballasts or bulbs failing and most of these Ebay sellers offer 1 yr warranties (not sure how legit these are btw) so you can have these parts replaced if they fail.
