i JUST BOUGHT A TALON WITH THE 1.8 MOTOR. I WANT TO DROP THE 4G63T IN IN THERE. WILL IT BOLT RIGHT UP?!?!?!?!

I bought from some very old guy for $400!!!, plus i am new to this and want a project to do.

Ok...first off look at pictures of the 420a engine (yours) and a 4g63t engine (mine). Right away you notice that the engine are on opposite sides of the engine bay. Hmmm that's not a good sign. Then you have to make sure there is enough room the the turbo and air filter. It can be done...with a lot of time, money, and know-how. IDEA! Sell it for about 500 and buy a '91 GSX. 1G's might not look as good, but they are cheap and fast. Don't buy a GST like I did, they are hard to launch. Best of luck, and message me with any questions.

Ok... first off, before you start to get sarcastic on him, he doesn't have a 420A in his new car. He has a 1.8L SOHC 4G37.

How can he have a 1.8 in the second generation? I thought the 1.8 was only an option in the 89-94 along with the 2.0 N/T and the 2.0 Turbo. The second gens came with the 420A DOHC 2.0, 4G63T, or a third variation that was in the spyder only. I'm not sure about the last piece of that since I've had people tell me it was a 2.4L 4 cylinder and some tell me there was an option for a V6 in some. I don't see enough spyders near me to find out for sure.

Ok, I had to jump in here. People seem to be jumpin in without reading.... Looking at his stats it says 99 Eclipse N/T but he said he just bought one for 400.00, You think youre gonna buy a 99 Eclipse for 400.00?????? Now why is it that any time something comes up about the 1.8 everyones immediate response is to tell them to sell it and go buy a 2.0 turbo? Some people dont have that as an option, whetehr it be they dont have the money to afford one, or they cant find one cause people keep buying them up for the parts for theirs that keeps breaking down.

the spyder comes witha 2.4l motor...the v6 is in the 3g's

and as far as i know there is no 1.8l engine in the 2g's

uhhhh because they are faster. It's not that hard to figure out.

NO!!!!!!!,,,, well yes, but its not really worth it unless you know what your doing and have a parts car. Mounts, sensors, ignition, wiring harness are all different. Theres Is a TON of threads. Just put in "1.8 to 2.0"
in search and you'll be busy for a while. heres some link anyway.

swapping or turboing 1.8

1.8 to 2.0 swap

Faq on how to turbo a 1.8here it is

But if you really have a 99 then you don't have a 1.8. You have a 2.0 chrysler engine that is almost the same as the motor in the neon (420a). Same things still apply though. Swapping involves about everything including transmission i believe in that case of the 420a. Always easier to get what you want the first time instead of trying to swap when it somes to DSMs.
