suspension question. please help.

I know im supposed to post this in the handeling tech forum but the site will not let me... So here is my question:

If I install megan racing springs which are 2" drop in the front and 1.9" in the rear and get an alignment but not a camber kit will I be okay? Like I know it will still wear out my tires faster without a camber kit but if I get an allignment how bad will things be? Thanks.
 
Let me tell you friend ive watched a lot of people drop there cars,an in almost every 1 of them wore out a set of tires before they ,finally cambered it,myself included but i went 4inch drop,now im back up an inch,and i used ingalls camber kit for the rear.When you drop your car check the wheels if they are leaning in at the top more than usuall you should probalbly camber it,,,good luck:hellyeah:,,viper
 
two inch drop is not bad but just make sure you got that camber kit on its way meaning dont take too long to get it.. wear wont be too bad depending on how bad it is, post some pics to get a better view.. I just order mine and dont have it that drop either for now.. :sneaky:
 
Camber and toe are proportionally related on our vehicles. The #1 cause of abnormal tire wear when lowering is due to excessive toe caused by the camber change, rather than the camber itself. The rear can be straightened out with a DIY camber kit; on my car, correcting the camber in the rear brought the toe back to perfect, afterwhich toe adjustment was not necessary. For the front, simply correcting the bad toe is, in most cases, enough to prevent the tire-wear and fix other alignment related issues like dragging tires during a turn and tram-lining.
 
ok here. im gonna tell you this b/c i do alignments for a living. If you have all toe front and rear set to 0 degrees on all four wheels, you will get the least amount of wear b/c of toe. Now by leaving camber negative, the only part to wear out is the inside edge of the tire, but it wont be b/c of toe. Therfore shouldnt wear out as fast (assuming toe is set to 0). Im sure i repeated much of the advise given by other fellow techs but thats my point of view. So you could leave the neg. camber and be able to take corners like a champ or you can correct it so you get the least tire wear possible, LOL your choice. But regardless if you change camber, toe must be corrected!

My Falken's are still doing pretty good, with more than a year of the extra negative camber up front.
 
AQgain there is no adjustment for camber on the 2 g cars,thats why they make kits,and yes locke you can get away with a neg, camber ,but depending on tire compound they may wear quicker than other,,,also on a short note nitto and other tire makers now make neg. camber tires ,not sure on price......viper

true I ordered mine and its taking forever I hate my car looking like a space ship, LOL not really but I'm a bit picky.. :tease:
 
I installed tenzo 2inch drop all around and you should have seen my tires after I got new ones the wires on the inside were alll showing about an inch in. I bought a camber kit but haven't installed it yet LOL it will my drop no problems I just need time.
 
REMEMBER camber can be a bi*** so make friends with her,,,,:hellyeah:,,,viper,,also 1 more thing an all wheel alignment would be good too,almost forgot,,,see ya
 
I bought my bolts and washers at the hardware store, they're doing fine.


Anyone who is worried about tire-wear caused by camber on minor drops, and for some reason are quick to blow me off, read around in the suspension & handling forum. There are many suspension guru's and respectable racers in there who've all posted on this subject hundreds of times, over several years.

I have custom rear toe adjustment arms so I'm able to adjust toe no matter what the camber angle is. I have had them for over 3 years and they have a great range of adjustment.

However, the person I got them from is not longer making them.

Also to add, I had a hell of a time removing the stock parts. The bolts were rusted inside the bushing. I had to use a cut off wheel to cut the bolt in half.
