probably a shit load in labor. average labor is like 100 an hour.

I have a 1g and did all the bushing, rear and front, they took me a total of I think 8 hours for everything, maybe more. Thats getting all the old bushing off/out, all the required cleaning/grinding/heating, getting the new ones on then get the parts back on (control arms, subrframe, diff (AWD) etc.

I didnt have a lift when I did the front, but I did for the back. It was so much easier, I had to drop my diff.

My point is, it is time consuming and labor intensive.

goodluck

My rear upper knuckle bushings on both sides are trashed and just for the heck of it I took it in about 3 hours ago just so I can get a ball park estimate and they quoted me with $780.
So for that price I will wait it out a little longer and just tackle it myself in the summer.

ohh dam $780 , i think i have the some problem as you on one side im also taking my car to get an estimate . i dont think this shop im taking my car is going to charge me by the hour though.

It's going to cost you a lot to have a shop do them. I think it took me about 10 hours.

i hope they dont charge me too much . i dont have other options

This may be one of the hardest projects to do on a DSM. It's very labor intensive.

That $780 is a bit much. Was that parts and labor? They probably want to remove the whole knuckle so they can use a press. There's an easier way, but I can't see them wanting to use a torch and sawzall on your bushing while the knuckle is still on the car. I did it that way and it took me about 15min a side to do that upper bushing.

I agree with you 100% there is no way in hell I’m going to pay that kind of money WTF. Anyway it was with parts and also labor; I was messing around with the bushings today and they have a lot of play in them so they unfortunately are going to need to be replaced. I’m sure they can hold on a little longer so when my friend gets home from college in like 3 months we will tackle it then.

thanks for the info is very helpful.

I second that motion :)
