I need to purchase a new intercooler. I'm getting ready to put a Bt28 and i was going to use the stock smic but a few people have told me that i really need a bigger one so the turbo wont heat soak. I have a few questiosn about the supra smic.

It will bolt into place correct? or will i have to cut? What all do i need to get it hooked up? And will it support the Bt28 @ 15lbs?

For some it will fit perfectly for others, slight modifications are needed. You will also need reducers for the outlets. They are 2.5 in and I think the stock pipe of the 2g's are 2in or 2.25 not really sure.

It isn't a direct fit. You will have to make it fit.
or will i have to cut
Yes you will have to cut some

Your LICP may or may not have to be hacked up a little bit to make it work. The end tanks on the SSMIC are 2.5in.
And will it support the Bt28 @ 15lbs?
It supports my 18G at 14 just fine.

Check out the vfaq for a walkthrough on SSMIC installation.

If you're going with a T28, you want new pipes anyhow. You will need a new UICP period.
The LICP you can custom fab. to make fit.

Oh yeah, and a 1g BOV will be needed.

i bought the car with everything on it.... it does have a hard pipe coming from the intercooler and then it goes to the meshy plastic or rubber or what the hell ever you want to call it that goes into the IM, does that classify as an aftermarket upic pipe or does that come from factory? Remember guys im new to DSM's I was a GSR guy before :sneaky:

It's a hard pipe. For a SSMIC you will need to hack about 1-2 inches off the IC side of the UICP. I remounted mine about 4 times until I was happy with it. I cut my UICP three different times and trimed away metal a couple of times where the UICP meets the IC. Mine sits perfectly. Slight bulge in the bumper, and I disconnected the sidemarkers because I didn't care enough about them, but all and all I'm happy with mine.
