I'm fairly new to the game, call me a newb if you will, but I've been hearing that a few people have been putting in a SMIC from a supra. I had a few questions about it if anyone could help me out.

How expensive are the parts?

Is it a difficult install? Do I need to fab any parts?? What stock SMIC parts can I recycle?

How effective is it compared to the stock SMIC on a stock 95 TSi AWD.

I don't plan on upgrading the turbo anytime soon, but will bump up the boost and want keep it cool so as not to knock or get heat soak or any crap like that. I think it's more of a precaution than anything, but I'm hoping it will get some good performance out of it. What do you guys think? Suggestions??

Generally you can pick up a supra SMIC for between 100-150 dollars. You will need to flip the endtank to install it, which is easy to do. most of the stock parts will work to install it, and the easiest way is to just use some plumbers tape.

Thanks, that actually helped me out a lot. Seems as though I can manage that with a few of my buddies, and the price is great too!! My only remaining question would be what kind of performance gains would I expect with like an intake, UICP, and exhaust w/ stock turbo??

Don't expect much from a t-25. On my 16g I was able to run 20-21 psi w/ beautiful timing curves when I upgraded to supra. Before on the stocker I was only able run 17 psi and still had some knock from time to time.

I felt a nice power gain up top with my T25. Can't wait to see what its like with something bigger.

It's a good SMIC for a stock turbo or 16g. I wouldn't run anything bigger than that. I had it on my 20g and it heak soaked real bad.

I am sure it would heatsoak the 20g but as far as pushing the 16g to its limit, I'm sure it would be able to handle it. :thumb:

Yea, I don't plan on running anything more than a T-28, but for now I'm still rockin the stock turbo. For the time being I'm only doing a few minor things such as intake, cat-back exhaust, i threw on a 1g bov today, boost controller, boost gauge, and maybe the supra smic if i find a good deal. I just figured for like $100, it couldn't hurt to look into.
