Well, here it is... this has been an issue for quite some time, and I decided to just ignore it and hope it goes away, but as it's gotten worse/more frequent, I figure it would just be smarter to ask the experts.
Basically the car stutters when driving at any speed... I notice it most when I'm on the highway cruising at a steady pace, but it also does it when accelerating, etc. It will also die at an idle for no apparent reason occasionally (and sometimes will not even want to run until it warms up for a few seconds). Although it (sometimes) won't run without stalling when it's cold, I feel I need to point out that if I'm sitting at a stop light and the car is sitting at its normal running temperature, it occasionally dies. It also stutters, as previously mentioned, when warm. I suspect these issues to be related.
Basically it seems like it's missing a cylinder, although the battery is new within the last year (it did this before I changed it, but it's only recently gotten worse). I've also changed plugs (NGK) and wires with no difference. Also replaced a battery wire in the last month or two, which solved a different problem, but not this one. Had a mechanic do a once-over on it and the car decided to act perfectly that day, so I got an "if it ain't broke, I can't fix it" speech, but no results.
I imagine that since these n/a DSM were always a headache in one way or another, that this is probably a common problem, and you folks would know how to handle it... I'd appreciate it if any of you could give me some ideas.
I guess I should also mention that it will generally stutter one time and give me no more trouble for a few minutes... there was a brief period of time where it was doing it several times in a row until I got off the gas and back on it... also, there is no CEL on in the car. it pops on when it misses (or whatever it's doing) and goes out immediately. I've tried pulling codes, but apparently there are none.
thanks
