I am running a 50 trim with 1050s on E85 and i'm using a Keydiver chip to tune.(rest of my setup is in my profile) I am having a hard time building boost off the line. Is it possible or even a good idea to use anti lag or a stutter? I'm going with a higher stall converter in 3 weeks but there are 2 track days before then.

do you already have a higher stall converter?! i got one from IPT for my 2G awd 3800 stall that im not going to use its brand new from them never been installed.

I think its a good question. What if you brake boosted with the Ebrake up, and had the clutch wire wired into that so that when you dropped the Ebrake you launched. Maybe I have it wrong but thats why I asked

i'm probably wrong but i dont think antilag or stutterbox will help with the automatic unless you can stall above stock stall. .

Antilag does nothing. The best thing to get the rpm's up (if you don't spray) is to play with the timing on both the cams and/or ingnition. From my experience, bump the timing up a ton before your launch rpm, that should help out.

Antilag does nothing, but a 2-step works.

Anti-lag works but everything has to be the right situation. It won't work at low RPM and low boost. 2 step works fine. A low stall is not going to stall high though, no matter what you do. You need more to tune with also. Just a chip is not a tune, it's just a ballpark guess to make the car start and move.

It seams like the Keydiver isn't Auto friendly. My buddy with a manual uses Jeffs chip and is about to hit into the 11s tonight. Looks like I will start looking for some spray. :thumb:

are tq converters different between 1Gs and 2Gs i never thought to look it up.

IF you use a mail order chip you can by ok with a AFC or something on top of it. Your friend is pretty lucky if it hit that spot on. I've dumped the same chip into multiple identical cars and it ran different in every one, these cars are not one tune fits all by any means. The 5 speeds can get by easier, the autos are much more sensitive to low end tuning with the big stalls and you really need some kind of timing control to make things work good.

I want to revise my previous statement. I no longer believe I need anything to spool up my turbo! I still plan on getting a Higher stall converter. Last night at the track I was able to launch at 15 pounds off the line. After finally figuring out how to build boost I popped the head gasket. thats 30 Psi for ya. :) After last night I now swear by Autos!!!!

What was the "secret"? What 60' were you hitting? Glad to hear that you got everyhting figured out, then the headgasket blew (which still sucks).

Did you go to RMR by chance?

I sure did. :) I just was being a ####y about launching it. Once i got about 8 pounds suddenly the turbo started spooling itself. I couldn't hold the car back and creeped past the stage light. After backing up and starting over i finally built 15 pounds and the thing launched fantastic. My 60 ft was 1.80. right at the 1/8th the head gasket went. I still ended up pulling 13.2@97 MPh I was dead even with my buddy up until the gasket went, he ran 12.1@116
My previous run with only 6 pounds of boost off the line was 13.5@107 with a 2.4 60ft

How many seconds did it take to build 15 pounds ? My car takes 12 seconds OMG to build 15+ pounds brake boosting..It goes to 4-5 psi in a couple seconds then does nothing till 12 seconds, then it spools like crazy..The problem for me is the heat it creates in 12 seconds..Synthetic fluid and an extra cooler will help, but 12 seconds is doing damage..

it spools to 6 pounds instantly. Then takes about 5 seconds to get to 8. as soon as it gets to 8 the turbo goes nuts and spools up to 20 but my brakes couldn't hold it in place.

hell yeah brandon Im gald you got it figured out....too bad the Hg didnt hold :notgood:

Well I just bought Arp's and a new gasket so hopefully I will be ready in 2 weeks. I am hoping to have the money to get the high stall converter this season. We only have 3 more races left. 11's here we come.

Is anyone making a trans-brake equipped auto for the DSM now days? That would be your ultimate feature right there allowing you to load the engine adn spool the turbo while holding it's self in place by locking reverse against' your forward gear until you release the line pressure on reverse (switch on wheel or shifter usually)

Not that I am aware of but
ahh if I could have a trans brake id be set and so would all the auto's im sure:sneaky:

That would be pure delight but as far as I know nobody makes a transbrake for us. I'm sure if someone does start making one it will be ridiculous expensive

One shop is working on one. I don't see the point though. We're pulling 1.3x 60 foots on the footbrake and have reached the limits of the drivetrain without a transbrake. All a transbrake is gonna do is accelerate breakage. A heavy duty transfer case and rear axles would be much more useful.

Here are my timeslips.......I am car 150

You are pulling a 1.3 60ft? OMG

Not me personally. My drivetrain has done it in another car though. I have only made 3 track passes so far, none with a full on launch yet. I was speaking of the Auto DSMs in general. Jason and John in NC, as well as Lee Evans before them, were pulling 1.3x 60 foots on the footbrake with hoosiers. Any harder launches were resulting in breakage. Personally, I'm fine with reliable 1.3-1.4 on the footbrake, if we're reaching the limits of the drivetrain with a footbrake I don't see any gain from a trans-brake other than increased breakage.
