i am replacing the head gasket on my 91 gsx and cannot get the plugs out..i have a standard 5/8" plug socket and it is to small to fit around the plugs....what size do i need to remove the plugs?

First off not to be an a$$ but if you didn't know that there is more than one size spark plug I don't really know if you should be replacing a headgasket on your own. Just don't want you to bite off more than you can chew. And you shouldn't need to take the plugs out anyways. They thread into the head and don't hold anything together. I didn't take mine out and it was fine. Good luck with the rest of this project though.

i have replaced the gasket 1 other time....the only reason that i did not know about the size diff. is my buddy just so happened to take the plugs out before i showed up at his shop. i am competent. thanks for the help!

They need to be changed before the project is completed.
Coolant doesn't like spark plugs, or anything else for that matter.

True. And if you have had to replace the headgasket once before. I would consider letting a professional do it. For all of the work I have done installing a headgasket was something I let the pro's handle because it was a multilayer metal one.

Ok, close thread now, dont tell people what they DO and DO NOT know... :toobad: He knows what socket to use now. Thank me....
