charlottetown,
I am tryiing to paint my wiper arms but one of them just will not come off. One of them popped off no prob but the other is stuck fast. I have doused it good with penetrant pulled and twisted but i am scared to yank on it to hard for fear of breaking something. Any reccomendations?

lift the wiper blade off the windsheild so there isnt any tension on the swival point. then it should just pull right off. a friend of mine couldnt get either of his off so he called me. i told him the exact thing and 5 mins later he had them off.

Tried that already and no go. It's pissing me off to no end. I might just paint the thing while on the car but knowing my luck I will manage to overspray on to something

Anyone have any ideas? Mine are stuck to. I've been spraying the stud with PB Blaster for the last week, once in the morning and once at night, still stuck on there.

I figured I'd bump this thread than make a new one...

I just painted mine today, took them off yesterday. lift the wiper from the windshield and grab the peice that is left horizontal to the wind shield and and jiggle it up and down firmly but not to hard and the will pop right off.

BTW they look way better painted it is worth it. Mine were all cracked, I sanded them with 320 and primed them with 2 coats and 3 coats of black gloss, look great!

i just did this a couple weeks ago and yes it can be very tough to get them off. the threading is very small so it doesn't take much weathering/corrosion to make these rough to get off. just keep on working with them, periodically spraying pb blaster....and yes it does look waaaaay better with new paint :)

Ya i ended up man-handling my passanger wiper arm, and it popped off. After a week of BS with it.

I pulled them off by wiggling it as I pulled it straight up.

I got them at the junk yard, that way I could still have the ones on my car in case it rained. I had the ones I got from the junk yard sand blasted, powder coated, & clear glossed, came out great.
