Stuck at 4grand.

Well, I seem to be having this problem alittle more than often now. Here's the scenario.

Encountered a Civic hatch.... I should beat it, right? Not.

First gear shifted at 6800rpm. Began to pull on him.
Second gear shifted at almost redline.

However when I shift into third I watch the needle on my stock tach. It seems that my car stays at 4grand and will not accelerate even with the gas pedal to the floor. Like it's stuck at that RPM and won't accelerate after speedshifting into third. What could this be? This is my major disadvantage when it comes racing time.

Your throttle isnt getting stuck some where, is it?? Just a thought.

I don't think so.. I have it at WOT when it gets stuck at 4grand.

Pull your plugs, and re-gap. You might have fouled one.

I got some cheap generic brand put in there a while back....

Could that be the cause of it? That does make sense. Seems like a loss of all power/acceleration in third and fourth gear when quick shifting.

Whenever I call Autozone/Kragens and ask for the NGK BPR7ES they always insist I tell them what type of car I have and say they don't have it in stock for my car. I even tell them BPR7ES and they seem to have no clue.

Ive read in other posts that the 4grand rpm problem can start with plugs. It can then move into the knock sensor, and then o2 sensors area. My bet its the plugs.

get tuned on a dyno

Would getting tuned on a dyno really solve the problem? How would I be able to determine it w/ the dyno sheet?

A dyno tune wouldn't solve your problem at all, just cost you lots of money. If you have enough money, a datalogger would help. Does the tone of the exhaust sound any different when you hit your 4k limit?? Like the sound of your engine retarding timing? I doubt thats your problem though, just a thought.
