Stubborn Reverse...any ideas?

Hey guys, I took the trans apart when I got my jdm awd trans. I put a welded center diff in with a VCE. When I put everything back together it pops out of reverse when any real load is put on it. I have to slip the clutch when using reverse just to try and keep it in. Also I get a very very slight grind every time I enter 5th gear. I was going to do a shep trans rebuild but I thought maybe someone might have an idea to what I did wrong. Thanks

long shot but could possibly be throwout bearing, or your fork could possibly be slipping off and not engaging in reverse
all i can think of in my state of mind right now (little tired)

Well I kept the same TOB that was in there when I bought the motor and trans together. I put a SBR 3500 kit in it and the clutch didnt want to disengage at all, so I had to adjust the pedal alot compared to where it was originally and added a little on to the slave rod with some quick brazing build up.

Its most likely not a tob problem, welcome to having a 2g. The brake for reverse as well as another part in the trans ( i cant think of the name of it now) is probably worn which is why it needs to be slipped. You're about the experience why a lot of dsm'rs say their cars are unreliable and expensive to fix.....stupid issues like this.

possibly, its not really that big of a deal to me, reverse is a gear i hardly ever use anyways and I plan on having shep or buschur rebuild everything. I just wanted to know where I messed up for the future. I can see your answer being possible since when the clutch is engaged if I was in 1st say, the reverse grinds like hell until I put it back in first catch it real quick to stop the trans and then it will go into reverse. I took the end cover off the trans and made sure that the slider and syncro worked coreectly and it did, just seems when the cover is back on and car is running it gives me problems.
