Okay, so yesterday me and my buddy installed a MBC on my car. My greddy profec ii wasnt controlling any boost, and i wanted to go manual.

Anyway, so we get it hooked up and everything.

Now when we first tried it, it went up to like 20 psi. No big deal, stopped and turned it down.

When we boosted it again, it would go into 1psi or so, and then flutter, like a blow off valve. Loose power, and basically not make any power.

Its kinda like fuel cut, but not as hard of hit.

Now from what Ive heard and searched, the flutter sounds like compressor surge. Now depending on what you have the mbc set on, it seems that it will hold until that pressure, then start to leak out, flutter, etc

You can easily hear the flutter, it sounds "cool". Which I heard compressor surge can make a "cool" sound.

I see that the vacuum line running to the BOV is kinked on the air filter.
Would that cause this problem?

Im gonna try and use a bungee strap and pull the UIP away from the air filter a bit to give the vacuum line some room, and then see if it boosts or not.

UPDATE: on my way to school I did a few pulls, and it held 10psi. I didnt have time to try and turn it up. So Im, thinking if I turn it up to 15 psi or so, and it starts doing it again. Its probably because we didnt have put a bleed hole in the MBC? Cause I heard past 15psi and you start to lose boost controll.

Thanks guys

Is the ebc new or used? If it is used then I would test the solinoid. I'm not sure how to test it, but there is a way.

Just so you know, hydraulic hose and supply companys sell a compatible solinoid (same as AEM/Greddy/Etc just no brand name label) for $20~.

Yea I dont want to use EBC, it came with the car, and yea its probably the solinoid, but Id rather have a manual.

You have any ideas as why it would be fluttering? It sounds like the the blow off valve opening and shutting, making a fluttering sound. When it does flutter, the power of the car flutters.

You can also try to switch the two hoses around. I did the same thing, called a friend and he started laughing and said everybodies first time is always the wrong way and he told me to switch the hoses around and it worked perfect.

I have the waste gate actuator off the side of the MBC. Vacuum line going into it, at the nipple with the ball bearing in it.
That vacuum line is in a T with the blow off valve. and it all gets vacuum/boost from the intake manifold.

Would it just be better to put the MBC with the actuator and j pipe nipple?
Then have the BOV use vacuum from intake on its own line?

The main thing is, would this (i dont even know what to call it) "surging" be caused from the vacuum line at the BOV being semi kinked because its up against the air filter?

How did you hook up the boost controller. Did you tap the bov line

The EBC was tapped to the BOV too.

Yes. Don't "T" the BOV line.

The kinks need to be worked out as well. (punpunpunpun)

Alrighty thanks alot guys, ill put the MBC right in line with the j pipe nipple and wastegate actuator.
And then jsut run the BOV on its own line, of course with out the kink. haha

And yes, nice pun haha

Thanks.
Andrew

You need the end of the boost controller opposite of the knob hooked up the j-pipe nipple. Then the fitting coming off of the side or bottom of the boost controller needs to go to the wastegate actuator. Run the bov with its own dedicated line from the intake manifold like you said along with fixing the kink and you should be good to go.:)

yea we have the lines to the MBC the right way, just we have it in with the BOV.

So yea actually as long as i dont need to move much, right after school before i pull out im gonna switch it around.
