My 90 GSX started slipping the clutch all at once. Took it apart to find something strange. Here are some picks. The first is the flywheel side. the second PP side.

NO KIDDING!! I thought with some super glue and some old break pads I could fix it.

I'm not stupid. My question still stands. What caused this? I don't want the new clutch to do the same thing.

If you can't help don't post.

Um you said it best in your first post. The clutch started slipping thats signs that your clutch is goin out or bad. Its just worn out from use or old age. But you cant seem to think that with a rusted center that the clutch isnt old or something. Wasn't trying to be an ass. But do you even know how many miles are on that clutch? or did you get the car with that clutch in it? You did leave yourself open for someone to give you a short undetailed response. You didn't say anything else other then what you said. So be a little more detailed then you were. There could be a number of thing it could be. Did you search before you posted this thread?

OK your forgiven. I guess I should give more info. I did do a search. This clutch was in the car when I got it in Feb. It looks to be the factory clutch. You can see the Mitz logo on the PP side photo. The car has 255k on it so I can't imagine a clutch lasting that long. But as for the way it went out. I left a nearby town 15 miles away every thing was fine. Had to stop for a stop sign with 5 miles to go. The pedal was a sponge. Went to take off and it would barely pull the car. It wasn't like it was slipping for a day or two it just happened all at once. Could there be a problem with the slave cyl. Or do you think the clutch disk just broke? Like I said I don't want the same thing to happen to a new clutch. Has anybody seen this happen before?

Its possible that it lasted for that long. Ive seen a factory clutch hit 200k without a problem as long as the user isnt beating on it all the time. Just torque everything properly and maybe shim your clutch fork pivot ball when you put in an upgraded clutch in it. Make sure the clutch fork and pivot ball arent worn out and adjust your clutch to factory specs. You should be good after that.
